You hear what she said, but it takes a little while to sink in. It all seems so surreal; sitting there, stomach clenching and rubbing against itself in the all-important hunger that grips your body, naked, soaked in God only knows what sort of fluids, as well as that purgative... and now your mother calmly, almost rationally suggests that you make a meal of...
Shaking your head, you try to speak but give a strange croak, before you clear your head and try again. "I-I should... Say that again? Please? I think I might have heard you wrong..." But with a gentle and understanding smile, your mother only reaches out a comforting hand to rest on your shoulder, and she repeats, "I said you should eat him. Just let yourself calm down, and think about it. Don't try to tell me you don't want to," she chuckles wryly, smiling at you and letting it sink in. When you don't answer for a couple of seconds, she whispers confidingly, "I know how hard this is going to be to get used to- as an idea, and then as a lifestyle. But you need a meal... and with you like this, a male child his age is too much for me to look after too. Please trust me; you're too young to understand. This is what's best. Can you imagine my raising you, teaching you, helping you to cope, and trying to keep him under control at the same time? Not to mention your sister?" Shaking her head, she mutters, "Think of me, just a little."
It's almost too much to take in. How do you choose? She's right- Even just thinking about him, you want him. You shudder to think what you might have done to her, if the situation had played out differently; you'll just let her think you were coming to her for motherly advice rather than a more material satisfaction...
