Chapter #11

Jackal the Typhlosion

by: W. Scarf Author IconMail Icon
“Wait, how the hell did I end up here?! You…you pulled me out of…?” The Typhlosion inquired behind a cough, just now remembering what his situation was. His arms were quivering with his eyes struggling not to lose focus from time to time. He clearly needed help, fast.

“Yeah, and you better thank me for it. Now hurry up and eat the berry.” You gesture the green fruit closer to him, already irritated with him.

“What does it do exactly…?” He grabs it slowly into his hand and began to sniff at it.

You sigh, “It’s going to help your burns heal faster, and hopefully relieve some of your pain.” You answer him, wishing that he would just eat it. He carefully licked the fruit once with a single scrape and almost instantly backed his head away in disgust.

“Aghk! Aw man, this thing is sourest thing I have ever tasted! Where'd you get this crap?” The Typhlosion pushes it back into away, refusing to eat it.

“Quit being a baby and eat it, or you’ll regret it later. Those burn wounds are going to get any better, in fact, much worse unless you grow up, be a man, and eat that tiny thing.” You retort, wondering if you should just take it back and let him suffer. The arrogant fire-type grumbles and restrainly bit into the fruit, mumbling some unhappy sound as he swallows the entire Lum berry. His tongue flops out and a queasy blow of air exhales from his dispirited maw. The Typhlosion tries getting back up with his new found sense of bravery, but he ends up suddenly gasping and falls back down, gripping his arms. You shake you head back and forth calmly with closed eyes from watching the poor scene, “Did you really expect it to work that fast?”

He angrily grunts and sits back up straight, pouting in his time for the Lum berry's effects to quicken in his body. Sighing out loud again, you plop down a seat on your bottom next to him for the both of you watch the building in front of you burn down. The flames flare out a demonic, yet strangely beautiful, coloration out from the dying construction. The two of you were, in a way, hypnotized by the hot picture.

You decide to break the silence. “I’m Lace.” You reach out a paw to him as he turns his head to you, feeling uncomfortably annoyed and surprised at the same time. The Typhlosion unwillingly lends out his hand, grasps yours, and shakes it with just a single, powerful tug.

“Jackal.” He hisses. You smirk and continue to watch the flames in front of you glow a bright orange, until he finally spoke again. “So...I take it that you’re not a robber?” You laugh at the comment and shake your head. Jackal looks back at the fire awkwardly, blushing a little with embarrassment. “Um, so there's like, uh, no hard feelings between us, right?”

“Well, Jack, you tried killing me and I not only spared your life, but I saved it.” You answer back at him. The Typhlosion tilts his head a little down with a wavy frown, obviously feeling a bit guilty from trying to murder you with little suspicion. “But yeah, there are no hard feelings.” You continued afterwards. He smiles back a little until you give him a swift pat on the back, causing him to yelp.

“Ow! I still have burns there.” He yelled, softly rubbing his wounds. "...And my name isn't Jack."
