Chapter #6

Down Here Robin!

    by: Lelouch Author IconMail Icon
Cautiously taking steps forward, Robin approached the treasure chest before the boat. This was definitely what she was looking for. A shoddy old ship with a "Cursed" treasure chest, exactly as she had heard.

Not even 30 minutes ago she was exploring the town, but before walking into the town the beauty changed into the outfit she wore in Skypiea, a sleeveless yellow shirt that exposed a nice bit of cleavage, a pair of purple pants that reached to her calves, a pair of purple high-heeled sandals, and what was something of a trademark for her, a white cowboy hat. All dressed and ready to go, Robin headed into town for a few minutes to gather information. Some of the information was useful, a lot of it wasn't. But there was one rumor that she kept hearing, and it piqued her interest. Something of a talk amongst the townspeople, there was a ship that was docked at shore. No one knew who the Captain was, or where they were, but after enough time the predictable happened. The ship was on a pirate island, pirates raided it. That's where the story grew bizarre, as no one saw any of those pirates again. Many rumors started, but people were still stupid enough to keep heading to the ship. It was through these various excursions everything was worked out. The ship itself was fine; the treasure however…Was not. Supposedly, inside were three statues, and anyone who touches a statue vanishes never to be seen again. No one knew how or why, but people began referring to the statues as cursed relics and warned anyone who came not to go near them. Anything relic-related instantly drew Robin's attention, so she kept asking about it. The story changed very little, but she did hear a couple of versions where people said that those who touched the statues didn't vanish, instead they were shrunken. Robin noted it but didn't take this alternated version seriously.

Now here she was, in front of the chest described to her. Though, she wasn't told it was in front of the ship, or open for that matter. It shouldn't have been open, no one other than Robin would've been foolish enough to go near the chest…Well, save for her crew. But they wouldn't pay any mind to such a cruddy ship. The only reason Robin was even there was curiosity and the idea these artifacts may hold some clues on the Lost Century or maybe even something else. Carefully she peeked into the chest, inside were the statues she was told about, but there were only two of them. There was brief urge to touch the wooden statues but Robin knew better than to follow that urge. She took a step backwards; Hmm…Everyone said three statues…Where could it be?

It was then something caught the brunette's eye, a small wooden statue in front of the chest, designed exactly like the others and about half of an inch tall. It didn't make it far from the chest, but it did make Robin realize something. Someone was here. Recently. But no one on the entire island was stupid enough to try and get these statues. Immediately Robin thought of her crew. Whenever something bad happened, or when a bad decision was made, it was their doing 100% of the time. Coincidence was possible she supposed, but Robin knew her crew well enough to know better than that. Besides, they were all with Luffy, who wouldn't pay any mind to the boat…Suddenly Robin remembered, Nami wasn't with them. She started with them, but later did her own thing. It was very possible she was involved in this somehow. It made sense, or at least…as much sense as anything in the Grand Line did. But that just left the question, if Nami really did come and grab the statue, where was Nami?

Maybe she really did vanish like the rumors said. I hope she didn't go in agony. Robin thought morbidly.

Nami didn't vanish, but she certainly in agony.

-----

"ROBIN! PLEASE! GET OFF OF ME!!" Nami cried against the sole of Robin's sandal. But any sound she attempted to make was muffled by the footwear, Robin had no idea she was standing on Nami. She couldn't even feel the red-head suffering underfoot. It almost made the girl want to cry that she was so small and unnoticeable.

Mere moments ago, Nami was standing; looking up at Robin, who was so tall she could've been a Goddess. No giant came near to her height, not even Oars. With Oars, Nami was about tall enough to be near his ankle. With Robin…Her big toe was taller than her. So yeah, Robin was pretty damn big, but still a friend. So Nami started shouting for her attention. Not even a minute after she started, Robin took a step towards the chest, and on Nami.

BOOM!!

Crushed into the ground was Nami, sore but more or less alive. Logically speaking she should have been crushed, but it appeared she a bit more endurable than that. Good to know, though it still hurt quite a bit. Nami was just thankful immediately afterwards Robin's foot came off as she took another booming step to stand before the chest. She was inspecting it very carefully, almost like she knew what would happen if she touched anything.

She probably does knowing Robin…Nami thought to herself past the grumbles of pain. Her body was in incredible pain, but it wasn't the worst she'd ever felt. Slowly the Navigator worked her way back to her weak, albeit she didn't look to be standing too strongly. Taking in a big breath, Nami readied for another shout.

BOOM!!!

…Only to be stepped on by Robin again. For whatever reason the giantess backed up and didn't move, leaving her foot on Nami. That was the current situation, little Nami was underneath Robin, in excruciating pain and failing to get any sort of attention from her. On the Brightside though, Nami didn't feel any bones cracking or anything like that. Apparently shrinking came with at least one perk, though if Robin stayed there for much longer, Nami would quickly learn to hate it.

Come on Robin, you're smart. If you know what these statues do you can help me. Nami started pleading in her mind, wanting help before she seriously got hurt.

-----

Robin decided to work off the assumption Nami wasn't dead and gone forever. But that still begged the question, where was Nami now then? It's possible she isn't here and never was…Though for some reason I feel that's wrong…But if she didn't vanish…As her mind racked itself to try and work things out, Robin recalled the aspect to this story she initially shrugged off. How the people didn't vanish, they were shrunken. If that was the case then Nami would most certainly be alive, but she'd be extremely small. Robin briefly looked at her surroundings. The boat was technically not at the dock, it was on the land beside the dock, which amounted to a grassy plain. Robin was standing in grass, which was all well in good, but if Nami was anything less than an inch tall she'd be completely invisible to her. The search would take hours…If it were anyone else. But Robin had her own tricks.

She closed her eyes as she raised her hands to opposite sides of her face, "Ojos Fleur…" Instantly, all over the entire grass field sprouted eyes, Robin's eyes, all looking for Nami in the midst of the grass. Robin had no proof that Nami was even shrunken, but she still felt as if she was on the right track. Her instincts tended to be right in situations like these. Though right now, no results. Still, she'd keep trying for a little while.

-----

Nami had given up preventing tears and was just doing her best to let it out with eating a face-full of dirt. Robin was still on top of her, thinking as hard as she could about the situation. In fact, she was thinking so hard, she probably didn't realize her foot was tapping. Normally something totally unnoticeable, when you are under that foot though, it's a hell that belongs in Impel Down. The booms that come each time Robin's foot touches the ground was deafening. The pain from being smashed between ground and sandal was building up to a point beyond Nami's pain tolerance level, in other words she was now screaming in pain. To make it even better, Nami was so smashed against Robin's foot that when it rose back up, she was still stuck to the sole! So when it came time to touch the ground again, it hurt even more. And to help top it off, the screams led to her face ingesting whatever it slams into, which is dirt in this case. After the first mouthful of dirt, Nami just started crying and felt herself giving up.

There's no way Robin will find me…I'm just a bug under her shoe right now…Nami had just about lost hope when she saw it, exactly thirty feet in front of her, Robin's eye! It was looking for her! Robin knew she was shrunken! There might be a chance yet!

The pain seemed to go away at this revelation; it suddenly didn't matter as Nami began shouting at the top of her lungs for Robin to see her, forgetting that it was Robin's eye and not her ear. "Robin!! Robin!! Down here Robin!!!"

------
Several minutes passed, at least ten, and the cycle hadn't changed at all. Robin was still tapping her foot without realizing it, and stuck to the bottom of her sole was Nami, who was barely visible from where she was. Nami was still doing her best to shout, but enough footfalls had left her voice raspier and less loud than it was before, and Robin was beginning to feel that her search was proving futile.

Then…
