"(Your name), would you...um..."
"Would I what?"
"Well, I never asked this to anyone, but..."
Even beneath her fur, you could see Maylene's cheeks burning red from embarrassment. She knew what she wanted to say, but just couldn't get the words out of her mouth. "Would you...g...g...g...go..."
"Out with you?"
Maylene nods.
In all honesty, you were quite surprised. You didn't really see any romantic attraction to Maylene, you had just met her overall. You had just stood up for her because you felt sorry for her, and could relate to her on some levels. Not that you didn't think she was attractive, in her own way. Like you said, she did look kind of cute with those glasses, and she seemed like a nice enough girl, albeit a rather shy one.
Ah, what the hell, you think. It couldn't hurt to give it a shot. Besides you didn't want to hurt her feelings, after she had all that difficulty just asking you out. "Yes, Maylene, I'll go out with you." Maylene gives a little squeak of excitement as she quickly hugs you, then gives you her address, telling you to pick her up at seven. Later, as school is letting out, you tell Ramona about your date.
"Wow, that's really nice of you."
"Yeah, I kind of felt sorry for her, being bullied and all."
"That's not what I mean. Once word gets out that Maylene scored you, the new human boy as her boyfriend, her popularity is gonna go through the roof!"
"Wait a minute, I never said I was her boyfriend."
"Well, she probably thinks you are, now that you've accepted her offer for a date."
You think about what Ramona said the entire way home. Do you really want Maylene as a girlfriend?
