The ride to your reception was awkward. Even though the reception was only a few minutes down the road, being alone with Olivia was not what you planned. Olivia didn't say much as she spent most of the time examining her form while smiling and periodically stealing glances at you.
Once at the reception, Jackie grabbed your arm in the hall and pulled you into a side room where you wouldn’t be overheard.
“Thank goodness everything is going okay Gerry. You and Olivia pulled it off perfectly. I don’t think anyone thought something was off. It’s kind of liked watching my own wedding from someone else’s point of view.” Jackie told you
You nod with a slightly bewildered expression. You could tell that Jackie was just trying to put up a strong front. looking at her, you couldn't help but notice the slight double-chin Jackie now had.
Jackie lowered her voice and smirked mischievously. “Olivia took time off of work. I’ll get a room in the same hotel and find a way to sneak into the wedding suite tonight. I’m sure Olivia will understand if we celebrate our wedding night, even if I’m still in her body.”
“Sure,” you responded faintly. You were not sure how that would go.
“Anyways, we need to get back to the reception to keep up appearances. Once we get to tonight, can and try to figure this all out. I got all the pieces of the orb in her purse” Jackie motioned to you as she patted the bag hung over her shoulder. As she was leaning up to kiss you, she stopped and kissed your cheek instead. She sighed before saying “Wouldn’t want anyone to see the groom kissing his wife's friend at his wedding reception.”
You and Jackie stepped back inside to join the reception. After chatting with some of your guests, you spotted Olivia next to Jackie's parents. She looked radiant in Jackie’s wedding dress. As you walked up, she spotted you and smiled before stroking your arm.
The rest of the reception goes on without incident. You danced with Olivia while trying to avoid eye contact with Jackie while she looked on. Although she gave off a good appearance, you knew that she was quite hurt. While the toasts you received from your family and friends were sweet and heartfelt, you barely paid them any attention. With the end of the reception, you had spoken to a whirlwind of people from both your life and Jackie’s. Every time you hear glasses tinkling you kiss your wife… er, Olivia while the crowd applauded.
Before you knew it, the afternoon went by so fast that it had become easy to briefly forget that the woman sitting next to you was not actually your wife. At least until you kissed her. At the end of the reception, you and Olivia got back into the limo with Jackie. You could tell some people thought it was weird how the bride's college friend followed them to their honeymoon. As the three of you got away from the crowd and were alone once again, Jackie puts her head on your shoulder while Olivia starred daggers at the two of you.
