This choice: Rin feels fine and decides to call it a night. • Go Back... *Tick*Tock*Tick*Tock*
Rin could feel her heart beat in rhythm to a nearby clock as time seems to slow to a crawl. Each second felt like it was going forever.
*Tick*Tock*Tick*Tock*
As time marches on she stands still as a statue, awaiting any possible belated effects her accident may have caused. Her mind is running at such speeds that even Alchemists of Atlas would be amazed when compared to their own Though Acceleration.
*Tick*Tock*Tick*Tock*
She double check, triple check, quadruple check each and every part of her that can be inspected physically and mentally. Skin, muscle, organs, blood vessels, bone structure, limbs, face, everything from top of her head to the bottom of her feet she inspects with a critical eye. She even checks her magic circuits both within her soul and within the Tohsaka family crest, all clear and none of them worse for wear.
*Tick*Tock*Tick*Tock*
She was fine. Aside from the initial discomfort of the blast, there's is absolutely nothing wrong with her in any way shape or form.
*Tick*Tock*Tick*Tock*
But she was dealing with the Second True Magic, Kaleidoscope, of all things. No way that an accident on that magnitude that she will emerged unharmed. No way, something must be up. She couldn't be that lucky.
*Tick*Tock*Tick*Tock*
She places a hand on her hip and thinks of the worst possible cases that play in her head. One vision she can see herself glowing before bursting into a bright explosion mimicking what happen to the shards of the jewel sword. A second vision, she sees her body so fix up before being transmogrified into a crystal likeness of herself...before cracking once and shattering completely like glass. A third possible, she envisions herself shrinking and growing fur everywhere before she's fully transforms into a cat. A final, the worse she believes, she can see herself sink into the floor, her entire body melting away into a red good; her hand reaching out for a helping hand before she's entirely reduced to a puddle on the floor.
She really hate having morbid thoughts. "Well," she puts up a grim smile, "Compared to the Fifth Grail War, being a puddle of goo doesn't sound that bad." She takes a deep breath before awaiting whatever befalls her.
*Dong*Dong*Dong*Dong*Dong*
It was only at the sounding of the clock bell that the young magus can see that it's been some time since the blast, and not to mention it was getting pretty late. She stifles a yawn that she didn't knew was building up. "Hm, I must have been more tired than I thought." She soon stretches, "I guess I should be glad that its the school break right now and I don't have to worry about waking up early." Exhausted after her little ordeal, a warm shower and some sleep really does sound appealing. With one final check up of her person, the Tohsaka magus soon departs her study and prepares for bed.
After the nightly routine of a quick shower and some leftovers for dinner the young woman is soon dressed in her kitty pajamas and lays herself on her bed, her mind already casting off into slumber. "I really should be more concern about what happen, but..." She takes a deep breath before cuddling against her pillow, "...perhaps for a latter time." She soon drifts off and enters a blissful sleep.

The only thing predictable about Magecraft, especially Magic, is its unpredictability. If Rin was more aware of that fact and open the mind to the possibility of the impossible then maybe she would be more mentally prepared for what was going to happen next?
But then, it wouldn't be fun now, huh?
Whatever the problem maybe is not just the explosion, but also the RESULT of said explosion. To put it simply, the shards of the Jewel Sword Zelretch are capable of pulling a large quantity of mana from an infinite number of parallel worlds, however due to their small size each fragment can only pull in only a limited amount. Still, even a single shard is able to pull in a large amount alone, having more of them simply pool the total mana together. Yet, the shards simply pulled in too much, too fast and could not handle the stress and thus exploded. The end result, a large concentration of mana, collected from countless worlds, all clumped together into a single spot.
Now this is where Rin's troubles will soon begin. Normally such a great quantity of magical energy would soon dissipate into the air without a vessel or will to guide it. However there is just such a container standing nearby; Rin. Mana, has no will, but can be absorbed as such, Rin became the container for the mana she called forth without knowing. Now here comes the problem, Rin's circuits can only hold so much mana until there's no more room, where does the rest of it go? Easy, with the circuits filled to capacity, the mana just goes to the next available space.
As the night moves on, and the young magus sleeps unaware to her condition the results will soon speak to itself...at the morning when she wakes most likely.

Mornings for Rin were usually just a bother for the girl. As much as she understands the necessity in waking up early to get the day started it doesn't mean she has to enjoy leaving slumber.
However this morning is different, much, much different. She was able to tell the moment her mind started waking up way before her body could even respond.
"Something happen to me, and I will not like it...at all." She mumbles to herself as her eyes start to open up. "Mirror, now." With a grunt she forces herself up and can already tell that something is wrong with her. "Mind still muddy, need to get to the bathroom." She gets off her bed and nearly falls over, her center of gravity is thrown way off balance. "Not a good sign." She makes her way to her bathroom, becoming aware that she can feel something...heavy pulling her down and around. Ignoring the growing sense of dread she opens the bathroom door, turns on the lights, and inspects herself in the mirror.
It didn't take long to see what happen to her and she's feeling off. It was really foolish of her to actually think that nothing will happen, she was dealing magic after all. Right? Right. All she need to handle this in a calm and elegant manner.
Yes, calm and eleg-
"HOW THE FRICK DID I GET PREGNANT?!" Rin shouts to all the high heavens to see the reflection of herself with the belly of a volley ball in the mirror. She looks down and can feel her stomach drop to see that her own condition reflects the image in the mirror. With a shaky hand she pokes her gravid belly, the sensation of a dainty finger touching flesh reaches her brain and she bites down the urge to scream.
She gives a nervous chuckle, "Somehow I think being a slime puddle sounds much better right now." Hands still shaky she soon rubs her recently expanded stomach. She can feel a light warmth coming from her belly, sparking her curiosity. "Wait a second." Closing her eyes, she activates her circuits in preparation of a spell, "Analysis Start."
She soon finds out that she wasn't pregnant, but a part of her really wishes that was the case.
Mana, light and active, was swirling around in her stomach, no doubt this condition is related to last night. Now there was something else also happening, that source of mana in her belly, it is growing, slowly but surely. She can already feel her skin of her abdomen being stretch farther little by little.
One of Rin's eyebrows twitch, "Seems like I'm either a mana generator or storage now...great." She palms her face. "Now what am I suppose to do?" indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
