"You know how I joined a book club after Dad died?"

"Yes," Cameron said, knowing how much her book club's social support and escapism helped her adjust to life after his father died.

"Well, we have a tea party at a fancy venue, and Christina was going to go with me, but she ended up having to interview for college at the last minute, and Anna is on a trip with her friends."

"You need me to come?"

"Yes, if we don't have enough ladies there, we won't have the minimum number of people for the package we ordered."

"You're only one person short?" Cameron did not register that she had said "ladies," but he could tell how much this mattered to his mom.

"Yes, it would be huge if you could come."

"Of course, I'll help Mom."

"Thank you, let me go get a dress for you," his mom got up and ran up stars two at a time.

"Ya sure ... wait, what?" Cameron questioned if he had heard that right, but a moment later, he knew he had when his mom came back with ...
