Nicole nodded, respecting Amanda's decision not to talk about it just yet. The sound of the bell rang out, signalling the beginning of classes. "Alright, we better head in," Nicole said, masking her eagerness to get away. "Don't want to be late for first period."
Nicole sat at her desk, her mind racing as the teacher began explaining the algebra lesson. She had always found math to be one of her weaker subjects, but today, it felt even more difficult than usual. The equations on the board seemed to blur together, and she could feel a headache forming behind her eyes.
Nicole found herself surprisingly engaged in the biology lesson. It was one of the classes she had enjoyed as Cole, and being a girl didn't change that. She eagerly jotted down notes as the teacher spoke, her interest piqued by the topic of the day – the human body.
As the lesson on the human body continued, Nicole's thoughts were plagued by the fact that she was currently trapped in a female body. Every mention of female organs, hormones, or other anatomical features made her wince inside.
As the bell for morning break rang out, Nicole felt a sense of relief. She was grateful for the brief break from the classroom, even if it meant having to socialize with her classmates. She gathered her things and made her way out into the hallway, where groups of students were milling about, chatting and laughing.
As Nicole made her way through the crowded hallway, her eyes scanned the faces around her. Among them, she noticed Lukas, Cole's best friend. It was strange to see him here, knowing they had been close friends in her old life, but now she was nothing more than a passing stranger.
Nicole approached Lukas, her heart pounding in her chest. She reminded herself that this was her chance to make a new friend in this strange world. "Hey," she said, giving Lukas a warm smile. "Mind if I sit with you? I think we have a few classes together."
Nicole took a seat next to Lukas, feeling his gaze travel over her body. It was uncomfortable, being seen as a girl and objectified. But she pushed the feeling aside and focused on making conversation. "So," she said, folding her hands in her lap. "We have a few classes together, right? Like biology?"
The air between them was filled with a tense silence as Lukas struggled to find something to say. He couldn't help but notice how attractive this girl was. She had a pretty face, long hair, and a fit body. He cleared his throat, trying to find his voice. "Uh, yeah. We do. Biology class, right?"
Nicole realized how hard it is to connect with Lukas having this body and identity and gets frustrated and left him to walk around a little bit in school garden to get fresh air and sort out her own confusion inside
As Nicole walked out into the school garden, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. It was nice to be away from the crowded hallways and the constant stares from her classmates. She found a quiet spot under a tree and sat down, her head in her hands. The frustration and confusion were building up inside her, and she needed a moment to herself.
