Chapter #6The Meddling Kid and the Frog Princess by: yyy24 Daphne Blake, super sleuth and mystery solver walked along the coast of Crystal Cove, flashlight in hand as she inspected the area for clues, she and her friends had split up into groups as per usual but oddly enough it was a case of boys vs girls this mystery, as her and Velma Dinkly had been left to go investigate the coast while Shaggy Scooby and Fred had gone off to question the Lakeside cabin hotels owners.
Daphne had somehow managed to lose Velma somewhere between the boat house and where she currently stood, she hadn't heard her friend speak up about losing her glasses or speak up in general, so she assumed she was fine or at the very least had left something in the mystery machine and gone back to get it without telling her. either way Daphne pressed on, eager to find something noteworthy, not having to go back empty handed to the group.
They'd been travelling around the countryside when their van had broken down someways up the road, a nice trucker lady had been kind enough to tow them to the nearest place with a phone, the hotel, but upon arrival all they'd heard was rumors of a giant amphibian creature roaming the area at night and frightening off the tourists and locals alike.
Daphne had already made her mind up it would just be another freak in a costume but was still apprehensive about what she could bump into in the dark, especially as she was alone, but she kept on looking anyway, pausing as something glimmered in the light cast by her torch.
Walking closer to the object Daphne covered her nose as she began to notice a really odd stench waft up from the direction she was walking, but she put it down to some drift wood or pond scum rotting nearby. gasping in surprise as she came across what had caught her attention and was also causing the smell.
before her lay a giant squishy pile of green gloppy gooey sludge, she knew the lake could easily have frogs in it but none of them could be responsible for this gigantic pile of sludge in front of her, looking around to see if Velma had caught up she sighed as she realized she was still alone, edging closer to the goo to get a better look she yelled out in fright as something pushed her forward causing her to lose her footing, falling face first in the pile of rancid goo.
spluttering to her feet she quickly realized her flashlight had broken her fall and gotten smashed in the process as well based on the blackness around her only illuminated by moon light, she groaned as she knew her clothes were completely ruined, as she felt the sludge continue to stick to her and drip down her body she shuddered at the thought of what it would be doing to her hair and complexion, ignoring those thoughts as best she could she caught sight of some footprints leading away from the sludge that weren't there before she was pushed, these prints seemed like they belonged to a woman, she was beginning to get very suspicious of not being able to see Velma but she couldn't bring herself to think her friend would do something so mean as to push her into the glop that now pretty much coated her body.
Grinning and bearing it for now Daphne followed the footprints to see if she could at least find out who had pushed her into that mess and why. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
