You think about who you might call. Who would believe you? In the end you can only think of one person, Kate. The two of you have been friends since the first time you were 10 years old.
You dial her number and she answers after a few rings. "Hello?"
"Kate." you say. "It's Michael, I need your help."
"Who is this really?" she asks after hearing your, now girlish, voice.
"No really." you say. "It's me. Sandra has..." you pause wondering how to explain. "...done something to me."
Your serious tone must have got her attention because she asks. "Where are you now?"
"At home." you tell her.
"Okay." she say. "I'm on my way."
About half an hour later she arrives. When you answer the door she asks. "Who are you? Are you the little girl who called earlier?" She looks around inside. "Where's Michael? Are you wearing his clothes?"
"I'm Michael." you tell her again.
She looks at you suspiciously. "Really? And how did you become a little girl?"
"Come inside and have a coffee." you say. "I'll tell you as much as I know."
An invitation for coffee must be very odd coming from a 10-year-old girl but she accepts. You lead her inside and explain this-mornings revelations.
"That's a bit far-fetched." she says. "Can you prove that you're really Michael and this isn't some weird joke?"
"Ask me something only I would know." you say. "Something from when we were kids."
"Okay." she says, thinking. "Where did we kiss when we were 12?"
"That's a trick question." you say. "We've never kissed."
"That might be a lucky guess. Let's try again." she says. "Who did you have a crush on in grade 7?"
"Paula Jennings" you say. "Until she laughed at me for failing a spelling test."
"It is you." she says. "So it's all true?"
"Yeah." you say then you realise that you're wetting yourself again.
"What's wrong?" Kate asks.
"Um." you say "I think I've had another accident."
She gets up from her chair and examines the damage. "We'd better do something about that."
"What?" you ask, remembering Sandra's words before your first accident. "Diapers?"
"I think it's the only solution." She says. "Until we figure out how to fix this."
