Usually, after a run-in with a patient as obnoxious as Carey (although, to be fair, Ally didn't really like any of her patients, but a job is a job) Ally would be about ready to clock out early and head home to a nice martini, but for some reason today she didn't feel quite so angsty... Although she did feel like she could use an antacid. Ally wondered to herself if she had any floating around her cabin as she slowly made her way back, gently rubbing her overfilled stomach and thumping her chest before letting out a belch, relieving her overburdened stomach of a slight bit of pressure. However, it seemed that fate wasn't intending to have her be calm on this particular day- her voicemail button was blinking on her phone in her cabin, which meant some faculty member needed her for some reason. Ally momentarily considered ignoring it and claiming her phone wasn't working, but then they might send out a tech person, and she really didn't feel like cleaning the place up. After scanning her bathroom for antacids, and failing to find any, Ally grumbled to herself as she smacked the button on the phone, and listened to the voicemail... Which of course, wasn't good.
"Hey Ally... Oh, sorry, Ms. Spades, gotta keep it professional... Anyways, this is Brenda, over in Accounting... We just need you to stop by the office for a bit... Just gotta go over some paperwork... I'm in the office until... Let's see... 5:30... So yeah, just stop on by..." By the end of the voicemail, Ally was ready to throw the phone across the room. Brenda was, among other things, one of the slowest talkers in the world. Her promise of stopping in the office "for a bit" would undoubtedly lead to two hours of small talk, punctuated with unnecessary pauses every five seconds, and... Ugh! Ally felt her pulse rising with the stress, and she couldn't help but stomp into the kitchen, grabbing a box of truffles- after all, she never really got dessert earlier- why didn't Carey think about that?

Ally wobbled her way into the Accounting office almost an hour later at a very slow pace. The truffles had been nice, but then she spotted a nice piece of cake in the fridge, and you can't have cake without milk, but then there had been milk left over... In the end, she had eaten the equivalent of a full meal in sweets, and her stomach was not too pleased about it. Compacting more food into her already full stomach had put Ally in a bit of a miserable situation, but she tried her best to be at least polite to Brenda as they went through their various paper work. Still, by the end of it (and she wasn't wrong, Brenda spent more time talking about her grandchildren than she did about the paperwork) it was quickly transitioning from afternoon to night, and as it was one of her last "work-free" days for a while, Ally decided to have some fun...
