"...Really though Ms. Knight there's plenty for everyone." said a now quite cross Ms. Polluck seated upright behind her desk. "I don't see why you need to take all of the chocolate covered granola bars from the teachers lounge vending machine. I would hope that I'd provided enough *ahem* supplies at your assigned lodging."
From the other side of her desk stood, or rather, paced one Ashely Knight. "But that's the thing! Why should I have to prance all the way back to the farthest parts of campus, when I can just swoop right into the teachers lounge and be done with it? I mean, I know the room is for everyone to use... But hey! My schedule means I get on break first. And you snooze you loose right?" explained the schools no-nonsense phys-ed instructor.
"Well the thing is, I'd hate for the other teachers to abuse the machine as well. In fact I;m already hearing reports the Twinkies are now missing before first break as well. Now, I'm sure that's none of you're doing? Is it Ms. Knight?"
"N-no!" said the aggressive teacher, way to quickly and sounding way to defensive to be shocked by this news. "Who in there right mind would eat one,let alone four or five of those disgusting things?"
"Well, Ms. Knight I'm afraid that if you and this other stingy teacher can't share with everyone, I'm going to have to start charging for the vending machine. Now, does it need to come to that?" spoke a confident sounding Shannon Polluck. She knew she had Ashely in check-mate, and now the temperamental teacher was either going to come clean or it was going to cost her.
"F-fine then- No more hogging the twink-I-mean granola bars!" said a resigned Ashely muttering something about packing a lunch as she made to leave. In fact, she was in such a sour mood that as she left she promptly slammed the door behind her and...
Ms. Polluck's eyelids fluttered awake, and she was surprised to find herself face down on her paperwork in her office. A heavy waft of smoke filled the corners of her office, bringing with it the scent of *sniff sniff* Butterscotch? Oh right! This morning she decided to light those "stress reducing" candles given to her by recommendation from miss Mia Underwood. After that things simply got a little hazy? Had she really just dozed off just then? Had the whole morning even actually happened? Unsure if the last few moments had been dreamt or not, she decided that what she needed right now more than anything was a big, black, hot cup of coffee, (with milk and sugar of course.) As she eased herself up from her chair, she gazed out of her sky high office windows towards campus, and took a moment to take in the sight. It was midway through the latest semester here, and a sense of the Autumnal season was definitely in the air outside. Students were hurrying to class doting about and carefully watching for puddles or giant muddy groups of leaves just as the campus bell rang nine.
Shannon had been burning both ends of the candle herself, as it were, here at work. What with so many new students and teachers needing her assistance she'd practically given the tour of campus over twenty times; there was Jennifer Walker, and that Alice girl, both who seemed nice enough, the argumentative Ashely Knight, and even another girl of her dear friend Verruca Harrington...Molly! That was the newest one's name! Ms. Polluck took pride in knowing each of her faculty members, and quite a large number of her school's students.
In truth she'd definitely had a lot on her plate in the previous months, but Shannon never bit off more than she could chew. Things finally seemed to be settling down now, (other than a random complaint or two) and the sight of her beloved academy at sunrise brightened her spirits a bit. Ms. Polluck then blew out the intoxicatingly sweet smelling candles, and trotted out from her office. Fetching a cup of tea (with plenty of honey for flavoring) sat back down serene at her perfectly neat desk and looked at her first appointment of the day.
Opening her schedule...
