You follow the stairs down, making as little noise as you can. While you are not afraid at first, you're less sure of your decisions as you are going deeper into the castle. Torches light the way downstairs and each of them go out as you pass near them. You can only press forward to see what is hiding down here.
As you reach the foot of the stairs, it's a bit dark, in front of you a big room emerges containing cages. As you step inside the room you see the torches on the wall light up. As each one of them light up after the other, you can't believe what's inside these cages. They are all sorts of creatures, ranging from Fey to Orcs to even changelings. You are wondering what they are doing down here. Some of these races have the same rights as humans. Then you notice a book lying on a desk in a corner of the room.
Luckily a torch was hold up above the desk so you can read the book. As you read through it, you discover it's a journal. The room you are standing in was build in the days of the old. An experiment was conducted, the wizards of old tried to change fate by taking over the bodies of others. While they were first using human bodies, some of the wizards wondered if any of the other races genetics would empower magic abilities. So that's the reason these creatures are here, being test subjects. At the last page you notice a spell being written, it's the one the wizard's of old had used. You could always use it, and so you tear off the page from the journal and stuff it in your pocket.
As you are about to leave you look at the different cages, perhaps you could take a look at the different species. Who knows? Maybe you could try the spell yourself. On the other hand you don't want to be caught here.
