"Hi, Harry." Luna said, startling him in his seat. Harry thrust his present into his pockets, blushing furiously as he answered, "Hi, Luna."
"It's nice to receive unexpected gifts." Luna spoke airily, leaving Harry unsure how much she'd seen. She had an eerie way of knowing just a little too much.
His conversation couldn't get any further as clumping uneven foot steps, mixed with a selection of crashes caught his attention.
He spotted a red-haired woman staggering towards him. She walked unsteadily in heels that she couldn't manage, reaching out to steady herself whenever she needed.
Without seeing any more, he suspected he knew who was struggling towards himself and Luna. Her cheeks were red, though whether from blushing, or blusher Harry couldn't be sure. She looked grotesquely over made-up.
"A punishment?" Harry asked, dreading to imagine which professor had been so cruel. Ron careened into the table needing to lean on it to stop and support herself.
"Hi, Ron." Luna said, her tone suggesting she'd noticed nothing odd about her appearance.
"No! Bloody Ginny!" she cursed.
Harry could only grimace, Ginny was insightful and inventive with her jinxes, and this one was a doozy. He managed to smother the laugh, but not the smile. Harry remembered Ron's futile attempt to 'borrow' Hermione's homework. Alas, the pair weren't talking, at the moment.
Though a year below, Ginny was intelligent. An insecurity that Ron felt deeply.
"A jinx on her bag?" Harry ventured.
Ron nodded, her massive earrings bouncing at the movement. Her equally impressive lashes batting as she spoke, her glossy lips oddly distracting.
