"Alright, it's getting pretty late, John," said Jenny as she stood up to stretch. "It's already nine o'clock."
"Hang on," you muttered trying to sort through the remainder of the flashcards. "I just want to try and remember these."
"Take your time," she replied as she sat down on top of your bed, which had a disgusting pile of clothes that hadn't been washed in weeks.
It was at that very moment, there was a loud crunch that filled the room resonating from where Jenny was sitting. You stared at her as she nervously looked down behind her.
"Uh oh, I think I might have broken something..."
She got up and dug around your unclean clothing pile until she found the source of the crunching sound. She held up the dinosaur you had bought at the garage sale a while ago, there was a crack that had formed neatly down it's center.
"What is it?"
"Something I had bought awhile ago from a sale," you groaned only now just remembering what you had done with it.
"Oh, crap! I'm sorry!"
"Nah, it's not your fault. I had totally forgotten what had happened to it."
The crack had gone right through the middle, severing the dinosaur footprint in two pieces. Maybe you'd be able to fix it with a little glue or something. Odd dust seemed to form from the jagged edges but you didn't pay it much attention. Jenny was still looking over it with concern so you shrugged at her to lessen her anxiety.
"Don't worry about it, I can probably fix it. Anyway, you should probably head out."
"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow at school John!"
And with that she headed out your room and went home. You put the remains of your rock on your desk, not really giving it much thought other than its repair being a job you could do in the future. Still, you couldn't help but feel something ominous about the stone. Your dreams that night were filled with strange images of a tropical jungle and a great big pair of red eyes in the bushes.
