Chapter #8

A clothing change

    by: Georgie Author IconMail Icon
You read the card. It says:

Imagine what you would wear if you were on a date with the other player

Eh? That’s an odd question, and you can’t see how that constitutes a ‘change’ rather than an ‘action’. Guess the implication is that you should go and get changed, which seems a bit silly half way through a board game. Well, personally you can’t see much point to it. Besides, you’d clearly never go on a date with your sister.

“What does it say?” Briana asks. You show her the card. “Well that’s easy. I’ve got the dress Mom bought me this morning at the garage sale. I’d wear that, plus my Hello Kitty panties, and sandals. Hmm, I’d tie my hair back, and wear pretty earrings. What about you?”

“To be honest I’m not really bothered.” You reply, struggling to find any enthusiasm for a situation that would never happen.

“Well, in that case I shall decide for you.” Briana replies. “If I’m going to be wearing my new dress, you could wear... I know, Mom’s new dress, so we’d match each other.

Oh, good grief. Now Briana is just being silly, and from the glint in her eye you can tell she knows it. You decide there’s no point in arguing about it, so you may as well let her continue with her silliness.

“So would I have Hello Kitty panties too?”

“Oh no, don’t be silly. You’re older, so you could have white lacy ones instead... oh, with little red hearts all over them. And you’ve got longer legs than me, so you could wear those sandals with the long straps that wrap all the way up the legs.”

“Yeah, OK. Whatever.”

Briana seems to be embracing the concept better than you, be it in her slightly warped way, and the slightly unfocused look in her eyes suggests that she’s currently imaging herself wearing her dress. For an instant you try to imagine yourself wearing what Briana has suggested for you, despite the silliness of the whole concept. No, this is just nonsense. Your mom’s dress wouldn’t fit you anyway, and the suggestion of little white panties with red hearts is very, well, childish, or at least a bit too girly.

You recall a photo that you’ve seen recently in a magazine of a girl wearing something eminently more suitable for a night out. She was modeling a variation of the little black dress, a strapless baby-doll prom dress with a shimmering bodice over a black mini skirt. Perhaps combined with bright pink silk underwear (what you secretly consider every girl should wear all the time) and some killer heels... that would be far more appropriate than Briana’s suggestion!

What you have failed to notice is that gold border around the edge of the card has started glowing, and a delicate shimmering light is spreading around the room, and there’s a sudden instantaneous flash. In a split second you snap out of your daydream to find that you are wearing different clothes, and realize that Briana is as well. What are you wearing now?

You have the following choices:

*Pen*
1. Everything in line with Briana’s imagining

2. Everything you imagined as the perfect girl's outfit

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
