Chapter #10

The Riddle

    by: Unknown
Giselle hesitates to shake and you have to walk up to her. However, she just lets out a groan. "I'm sorry little guy," she said. "But we saw each other's faces. As a sphinx, I am bound to ask you a riddle, even if I'm not hungry." You gulp loudly. You should've left when Giselle told you. Then again, if you were smart enough to stay out of trouble, you probably wouldn't have gone jogging where Lupa could see you and eat you up.

"But be warned," said Giselle. "If you fail to answer my riddle correctly, I must eat you alive right here and now even if I don't want to and I really don't want to. But it's the sphinx code." "I understand," you say with a moan. "Just try to keep the riddle simple." "I'll give you the simplest riddle I know." Giselle inhales and prepares to give you the riddle.

"See me run, but never walk, to my mouth which cannot talk, upon my head that never weeps, I lie in bed, but I don't sleep. What am I?" That was her simplest riddle? That was a brain buster. You couldn't believe how screwed you were. At least Lupa didn't make you answer riddles. Then again, even if she did, she'd still eat you no matter how correct you were. You have to think hard as Giselle looks down on you and licks her paw impatiently. She doesn't want to eat you, but if you can't answer her riddle correctly, you're cat food.

After much thinking, you give your answer.

You have the following choices:

1. A stove (incorrect)

2. A river (correct)
