Karen was the school librarian. An average woman with chestnut hair, glasses, and actually, looking quite like she was born for this job. She was busy registering books in the database when she noticed something unusual in the box where usually, students returned books. Inside was a black and silver device.
"A dictaphone?" Karen blinked as she picked it up "Who still uses that kind of things nowadays?"
She checked the box, and found a letter:
"To the one who will find this
Here's a present, just for you
Coming right from the abyss
May all your wishes come true"
"Okay... poor poetry for a poor prank I guess..." Karen whispered.
She was used to pranks. Karen had been a student in this very school. She only left it to get her college degree and landed right where she started: as the school library rat. The salary wasn't amazing, but at least, she had a job, could spend her days among books and enjoyed the silence, except when she had to remind them to keep their voice down with a loud "Shhh!". Hence why sometimes, students still played pranks on her.
But as she pressed play, there was nothing recorded in this device. It was brand new. Who would drop this here? She wondered what she should do...
