Get a bite to eat

by: Aimless Vagabond Author IconMail Icon
Within minutes, the three soon made there way out of the house and straight towards town. Judging by how fast Meena's mother was walking, it was clear that she was extremely excited about spending time with her daughter. As they walked past the plethora of shops aligning the streets, Alan casually sat upon Meena's palm as her and her mother began talking with one another. While it did seem odd that he was acting the part as the giant bat girls lover, he just hoped that he managed to play the part convincingly enough for the older bat to believe.

"So tell me Alan, how did you know about my dear little Meena?" Her mother asks as her eyes beamed down at the human's tiny body.

"h-huh?" Alan stammers unsure of how to exactly answer the question without making it sound absurd. "w-well, Meena just happened to be my neighbor." He states while trying to come up with some lie in order to make the claim sound even more believable.

"Is that so?" her mother asks while giving a large smile. "So I take it you two started out with some sort of puppy love?"

"Exactly!" Meena quickly answers before Alan even had the chance to tell his own made up tale. "We knew each other for quite some time, and soon enough we ended up becoming lovers" Meena smiles warmly down at her human companion. "Isn't that Right Alan Sweetie?"

"R-Right!" Alan quickly nods his head while looking up at Meena. "How could I forget about all those times we secretly hinted about dating?" he quickly adds.

"Oh! well you must tell me about your experiences when we head back home!" Her mother requests as she lets out a chuckle.

Both Meena and Alan return a chuckle, but not in the same pleased state as the bat woman. The two awkwardly gazed upon each other as their eyes displayed complete uncertainty over the matter. Just what type of stories could they possibly make up to appear like sweethearts? The doubtful thoughts soon vanished as the group stopped in front of a large building at the corner of a street.

"Here we are!" Meena's mother beamed proudly as she stood before what looked like an extremely fancy building. The ornate decorations and overall regal appearance of the structure could have easily been mistaken as some sort of home for an aristocrat, if it wasn't for the restaurant's name located right over the front doors.

"Mom? you want to eat here!?" Meena stammers surprised by her mothers choice of cuisine. "I mean..you do know how pricey this place is right?"

"Oh come now Meena!" her mother laughs at her daughters utter surprise. "it's been ages since I've seen you, so we minus will celebrate in a memorable fashion."

Not wanting to ruin the moment, and unsure if her mother would even take her urges into consideration, Meena slowly nods her head. "a-alright then." Within moments the three enter the regal establishment where they are quickly greeted by a ram garbed in the typical showy attire.

"Good evening." he spoke in a rather esteemed manner as he gazed upon the two bats while standing stoically upon a wooden platform. "A table for two?" he asks while looking upon the small party.

"Actually three." Meena corrects as she lifts Alan up to view in front of the ram. The calm expression on his face soon dissipated as he looked down in surprise at the miniscule human being. "e-errr...of course." he nods while clearing his throat. Judging by his sudden state of shock, this fancy restaurant must've been exclusive to anthros...that or this was the first time a human entered such a building. "Right this way please." he politely orders as he led the three to a small table located at the side of the restaurant. As soon as the three were seated, a Lynx waitress soon walked up to the three focusing her gaze down at Alan. "errr...do forgive me." she speaks in a soft yet uncertain voice. "but, this is the first time we really had...well, a human within this restaurant."

"Is that a negative thing?" Meena's mother asks with a scowl.

"Oh no! not at all!" quickly replies the Lynx. "well...it's just..." she stammers trying to find the correct words to speak. "we don't seem to have the right accommodations for...his size." she answers. "our utensils and glasses are all meant for anthros, so we don't really have anything that would be appropriate for somebody this small...err no offense." she quickly turns to Alan abashed. "none taken he replies."

"So...are you suggesting that we leave?" The Bat woman asks as she was now having second thoughts about her meal choice.

"Oh, Of course not!" The Lynx answers. "it's just that...well...this is quite an unexpected predicament for us."

Meena looks down at Alan as a smile soon formed on her face. "so you're saying that you have nothing his size?" to which the Lynx slowly nods her head. "well...will it be alright if he shared with me then?" Meena asks while turning her gaze up at her. "that can be arranged." the Lynx nods once more. "Great! then me and him will be sharing a meal." Alan was surprised that Meena would be so willing as to share her own food with him. "you have no complaints about that? right Alan?" Meena looks down while gently rubbing his head. "None what so ever." Alan replies while smiling. "alright then, may I ask what you two would like to drink?"

After giving the drink order to the waitress, she soon took her leave. "I'm so sorry about this Alan." Meena's mother apologizes as an ashamed expression soon grew on her face. "if I would have known, I would have chose some place else."

"No need to worry." Alan smiles while looking upon her. "it's perfectly fine."

Within moments the Lynx soon returns holding two glasses of water for the group. "Here you are." she smiles while handing the two beverages to the bats. "Now what can I get you all to eat?"

"I'll have the roast meat with sautéed vegetables, drizzled with a hint of herbs please?" Meena's mother answers. Judging by how she ordered her meal, this wasn't the first time she ate at some elegant establishment.

"Of course! and as for you two?" The waitress turns and looks at Meena.

"we'll have the Fettuccine Alfredo please." Meena answers. While it did sound like such a common choice to make within such a fancy restaurant, it did seem like the easiest thing for Alan and her to share.

"Very well, it will be out shortly." The Lynx nods and leaves the two to talk.

When the waitress did say that the food would come out shortly, she actually did mean it. In just minutes, the food was prepared and set right before the three. "here you are! enjoy your meals." she says with a big grin on her face as she soon walked off to tend to another table.

Within seconds, the three then began to proceed eating there meals. As Alan knelt on the side of the plate to look down at the massive pond of pasta, he turned his head to glance at the older bat. It surely did seem like Meena's mother was quite adept when it came to high class. His attention was quickly disturbed as a sudden movement caused him to fall straight within the patch of noodles and cream sauce. As he tried to stand up on the slippery surface, he soon felt another odd movement surrounding him. In moments he was soon raised upwards, along with a batch of noodles. As he turned his head to the side, the view of Meena's approaching open maw took over his sight.
