Samantha Byrd
by: Unknown
Samantha Byrd wake up! I opened my eyes, my math teacher stared at me with a stern look. "I,m sorry Ms Brown, I'm just really tired today. "Don't let this happen again, '' she said with annoyance in her voice. Everyone around the room looked at me. I stayed up late last night doing a history project because it was due today. Many of them laughed at me, I have always been the class joke, especially to Judith Bellwood who always did her best to embarrass me and make me look like a loser to everyone. Class from then seemed to drag on probably because it was the last period of the day and because I embarrassed myself. The bell finally did ring and I got up from my seat and quickly walked out of the room. I wanted to be done with being at school today but I couldn't as I had to be at basketball practice right away after school and it would be frowned upon by my teammates to not show up.
"Hey stork it's time for practice," Judith called out to me. "Yeah I know," I said to her. "You should probably drop out from the team because you're a terrible player" "not gonna happen'' I said irritatedly as I quickly walked away to my locker to put away my supplies and to retrieve my gym clothes. Judith liked to tell me every time before practice started that I was the worst player on the team and that I should quit. Judith is on the team and was the best player on it, I on the other hand was one the worst players on the team. Most of the time I always missed my shots and a lot of times I would trip and fall while running. The reason why I ended up joining is because my gym teacher convinced me to because of my height. I'm the tallest person in the seventh grade at 5-9 which is way too tall for a girl and Judith is 5-2 which is a perfect height. I'm even taller than the tallest guy who is my only friend at school Cory by an inch. I felt disappointed by how terrible I played so I kept on trying to improve. I walked to the girls locker room and changed into my team uniform and went into the gym.
I ended up playing poorly like always. I kept missing most of my shots and I kept getting the ball taken from me.The time just flew by quickly, so when practice ended I quickly changed out of my uniform and left the school before anyone else had. It was 4:30 and it was unfortunately raining and the way I would get home was by riding my bike. The rain ended up getting me soaking wet, by the time I got home. My parents were not going to be home for a week as they went on an important business trip for their jobs. They had just left the day before and my older brother was on a class field trip for a week as well to Chicago so I was home alone. When I got home I noticed a package on my front porch with no address to where it's from and none to my home, but it was addressed to me "That's odd" I said out loud to myself. I unlocked my front door, I took my white high tops off and went upstairs to my bedroom and got a pair of scissors and opened up the package. Inside was...
