One of the medics approached him with Hera's diagnosis, and he looked at her worriedly.
"Well...It's...complicated. The injury was to the abdominal region, and in a way, I suppose it's a miracle she survived the encounter." The medic replied, "We've patched up the wound, but I'm afraid to say it'll take more than a week before it heals, much less heal fully. We can't risk it opening again, and from what we can tell, the injury could put her on bed rest for at least a month."
Kanan closed his eyes in deep sorrow whilst the medic added, "Her recovery could've been prevented if she was provided a proper diet instead of what she has been having." And added," Her ankle needs time to recover too."
As if to confirm this, the Twi'lek pilot turned over in bed with a weak groan, which caused Kanan to lean over to her, brushing her face with his hand, which caused Hera to let out a tired yawn.
"Kanan?" She weakly called out.
"Hera! You're awake." Kanan smiled softly but was forced to avert his gaze from her as he added," But you should get some rest."
Hera reached out to him, and despite the pain, she rested her hand on his shoulder, looking at him with a kind gaze.
"What is it, Hera?" He asked.
Hera felt a brief moment of fear before she let out a soft chuckle and replied," Well...I suppose I could tell you."
Kanan's brow lifted, "What?"
Hera soon let out a brief chuckle as she spoke," It's just...well, it's been on my mind for quite a while now, I guess. And...I want to be honest about it. After all, it was a near-death experience, and I'd like to be completely honest with you, Kanan. After all, you and I have been through so much together."
Kanan looked back at her calmly and asked," Is this about what happened to me back on Lothal?"
"No. It's about what's happening to me." Hera replied, and this piqued Kanan's attention.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
Hera was about to say something, but the medic beside them gently coughed to grab Kanan's attention.
"Captain Syndylla here is a set of instructions for your recovery plan; follow as you see fit. Please make sure to read the sheet." The medic politely replied before leaving the two alone again.
"I'll go and give you time to rest. You should get plenty of sleep. After all, you need it." He said before standing up from his seat and leaving the room.
As he left, Hera needed to eat something, despite being rather late in the night cycle.
As she was ready to grab something to eat, Ezra walked in with a tray of food, causing Hera to let out a brief laugh.
"What's so funny, Hera?" Ezra asked.
"Nothing, Ezra. I'm just glad you're here." Hera smiled softly as Ezra handed her the tray of food.
"Kanan told me what happened. You can stay here as long as you like." Ezra said as he turned away and made his way to the exit.
"Ezra?" She asked, which caused Ezra to turn around. "Did you want something?"
"I was just wondering if you needed anything. I could go and get you something." He suggested.
"I'm good." She said as she dug into the tray of food.
She ate at least 5 pounds of meat from the tray of food before putting the tray down on the nearby table and feeling fatigued.
Her belly felt heavy as she burped from eating so much, and she rubbed her stomach with her hands. Her belly jiggled ever so slightly as she did this.
Then, with a short burp, she decided to lie down and rest.
