"... it happened when I was a kid."
Cyrus looked concerned. "Was it something someone did to you?" Allie reassured quickly, "Oh, no, not even close. Honestly, this is actually just kind of a funny memory to me now. See, this is how it went down..."
Allie began her story by saying, "I was about 9 or 10, can't remember exactly which one, it's been so long. See, our castle is built right next to some woods where our lumber workers go to get their supply - every so often, I'd go outside the castle and roam around in there, much to my mother's disdain. My father never paid it much mind, but my mother was worried I was gonna get lost or something." Cyrus interjected, "What about any creatures that lived there?" Allie replied, "There some foxes and rabbits, but nothing dangerous - no wolves or anything of the sort. I actually met a little red fox while I was out one day - he came up to me and nuzzled up against me. He was very friendly - I think it's because he liked my hair, it was a much brighter color back then than it is now. Like, maybe he thought I was part fox or something. Regardless, we got along great - guess what they say about princesses and animals isn't totally unfounded, huh?" Cyrus laughed, and Allie continued, "Actually, that's what I was gonna say next - this fox, I named him Redmond. Y'know, because he was a red fox. I'd go out to see Redmond everyday, and I'd bring him food too. Well, one day, I went to go see him, and I couldn't find him at first - after about 15 minutes or so of looking around, I found him... or maybe, he found me. Either way, I called out to him, Redmond, Redmond, here boy! but he wouldn't come over. Instead, he seemed to want me to go over to him."
"Sounds like he wanted to show you something important," Cyrus speculated. "See, that's what I thought too!" Allie responded excitedly. "I figured he wanted to show me something, so I walked up to him, and that's when he turned around and started heading deeper into the woods, deeper than I usually went. Thankfully, I never lost sight of him, I think he wasn't trying to lose me. Anyway, I followed Redmond for a few minutes, and that's when we both finally arrived at this great big tree." Cyrus asked, "Was it an oak tree?" Allie replied saying, "I think so, but it wasn't like any oak tree I had ever seen before - this one was was a bright green instead of a dark brown, and it had a faint luminescent glow. There were so many branches on the tree, too, and while there weren't any leaves, there were tons of these large, round fruits."
"Were they green too?" Cyrus inquired. Allie nodded and continued, "They were the same shade of green as the tree, and they even glowed too - the whole thing just looked out of place with the rest of the forest. When I got there, I saw Redmond at the base of the tree, and then he rolled one of the fruits over to me with his nose. I guess it had fallen from one of the branches, and he wanted to give one to me - maybe as a 'thank you' for all the food I gave him? So, I took the fruit and decided to give it a bite - it was very juicy and sweet, but also soft, almost like gelatin. It definitely wasn't anything like an apple or a peach - it didn't even have seeds, I don't think. Regardless, I ate it anyway." Cyrus clarified, "All of it? There wasn't any core?" Allie shook her head and replied, "Nope, no core - if I had to compare it to anything, it was like those dough, jelly-filled pies you can et at the bakery. I remember thinking that it tasted so good, I just wanted to have more. I looked around to see if I could find anymore that were on the ground - at the time, there were only two more." Cyrus crossed his arms. "I think I see where this is going." Allie laughed, "Yeah, right? Pretty obvious where this goes from here - after I ate all three fruits, that's when I decided to pet Redmond on the head to thank him for showing me where the tree was, and then I made my way back home to the castle. I wanna say I made it about halfway home when I started to first feel the effects of the fruit - I felt pretty bloated and gassy, though it wasn't as bad as you'd think."
"How do you mean?" Cyrus asked. "Well," Allie elaborated, "let's just say that, at that time, the effects of the fruit were minor - they only gave me a little bit of gas, nothing too crazy - I didn't even fart until I actually got home, and even then, it wasn't very loud or strong. All I remember after that was that that bloated feeling I got back in the woods never really went away." Cyrus said, "Sounds to me like the tree was cursed." Allie slightly shrugged. "Kind of - I'll get to that part. What happened next was wanted go back to that tree to see if any more fruit had fallen, so I'd go back occasionally to check up on it - every so often, a fruit or two would fall, and I'd eat it, just like that. With each fruit I ate, I only got gassier and gassier - and noticeably more bloated." Cyrus raised his eyebrow in concern, "More bloated?" Allie nodded. "Mhm - the more fruit I ate from the tree, the gassier I'd get, and the bigger my stomach got - you should have seen me, Cyrus, I was like a parade balloon." Cyrus raised both his eyebrows in surprise. "Goodness. What happened after that? Did the king and queen help you at all?"
"Oh yeah, totally," Allie assured. Well, they tried to, anyway - they had me visit the medic multiple times, as the bloating got worse. Every time I'd go there, I'd stink the place up. I told them all the same thing over and over again, that I ate the fruit this magic tree I found in the middle of the woods. My mother was upset with me, of course, but my father was more curious than anything. I always told them that I never felt any real pain, or even that much discomfort - I was just really really gassy. That's when my dad decided to look into it himself - he didn't think this was any instance of food poisoning or anything of the sort, but something magical in nature. I mean, who could blame him, the doctors couldn't tell us anything. That's when he found a book on Dendrology, the study of trees - he showed it to me, asking me what the tree looked like, and if I could find it anywhere. Once I did, I showed it to him immediately - as it turns out, that tree was mystical - one-of-a-kind, even. According to the book, what Redmond brought me to that day was the Great Wind Fairy's Tree."
Cyrus' eyes widened at the mention of that name. "You mean to say that that tree was a product of Sylph?" Allie snapped her fingers and said, "Bingo. That tree was one of many gifts Sylph left behind for those to find one day - it was her way of making sure her powers did not go to waste once she had left our world. Just my luck, I found a magic tree that gave me magical fart powers - who would have imagined, right?" Cyrus was awe-struck. No way, he thought to himself. I'm talking to an Elemental right now! "So, what happened next?" Cyrus asked. Allie continued, "Well, the story gets pretty simple from there - the book said that, in order to cease the bloating entirely, I'd have to finish eating all the fruit on the tree." Cyrus was visibly confused. "Hold on, I thought you said that this tree was one-of-a-kind. If that's so, how would the author of this book know how it worked?" Allie shrugged her shoulders. "Beats me," she said bluntly. "My best guess, the dude who wrote that passage of the book was one of Sylph's followers from when she was alive - the book was a tomb, a collection of different writings from all sorts of scientists, mages, and even the odd alchemist or two trying to make their own trees." Cyrus paused for a few seconds, and then nodded his head, saying "I see. Sorry, go ahead."
"After that, the rest was simple - I went to the woods again one last time, and ate the last fruit. Once that happened, the tree lost it's glow entirely, and the green faded to a harsh black - after that, my stomach began to swell. If you thought the bloating was bad before, I was just starting to swell to the size of a house once I finished that last fruit." Cyrus was shocked. "A house?!" he screamed. Allie couldn't help but laugh. "Hahahaha, yeah, no bullshit! Honestly, it felt kinda cool! Something about all that build-up was... surprisingly relaxing. I didn't feel that much tension in my body at all, believe it or not. After the swelling stopped, a minute passed before I let it all out in what was easily the single biggest fart I think any person has let loose. AS I let it all out, I started to deflate as well, and once I aired it all out, I had total control over my farts ever since!" Cyrus was baffled, but also kind of amazed. "That's a crazy story, Allie! I had no idea you were an Elemental!" Cyrus exclaimed excitedly. He then paused and asked, "Wait, you have total control?" Allie couldn't help but smirk as she put her hands on her hips and puffed out her chest as she said, "Yessir! You're looking at a bona fide farting master! How else do you think I could fart right on cue earlier?" Cyrus thought, Oh yeah, that's right - I should have put that together sooner.
Just as Allie finished saying her remark, another guard came up to both her and Cyrus. "Princess Allie?" he asked. Allie turned to him and replied, "What's up?" The guard responded, "Princess Andaret would like to speak with you now - follow me, if you please." Allie rolled her eyes and said, "Awww, man... guess it's time for politics - no need, squire, this gentleman can escort me. The Throne Room, yes?" The guard said, "Yes, Your Majesty - as you wish, I'll leave this fellow to escort you there himself." The guard then turned and left the two. Allie sighed and said, "This is gonna be fun... Shall we Cyrus?"
