This choice: Faye recieves a Fast Pregnancy • Go Back... The next day, Jack had just finished showering. He was drinking a cup of coffee while putting on his work uniform. He had at most two hours before work, so he decided to sit down to read a comic book. While he was reading, he looked at his desk and saw the coin he'd bought yesterday. There was something so weird about the coin. As he stared at it, he took noticed of his own heartbeat - he heard it much louder and clearer now, almost like it was a base drum. For a few more moments continuing to stare at it, he heard what was tantamount to a dog whistle. He snapped out of it when he heard that. He shook his head for a moment and no longer heard anything. He figured it was just his imagination. He returned to his comic.
He suddenly heard the doorbell ringing downstairs. He could hear someone go to the door. He could just faintly hear the mumbling of a conversation, but couldn't tell what was being said. But soon he heard his mom cheering and his dad began to laugh. He heard what sounded like clapping. Jack was intrigued. He went downstairs and saw his mom sitting on one of the couches in the living room in front of the coffee table. She was happy. He looked to the opposing couch and saw Faye Jones and her husband, Charles sitting there. They were smiling as well. He then saw his dad return with two coffee mugs - but he noticed that only one had coffee; the other had milk.
His mom suddenly spotted him standing there. "Oh Honey," she said. "Come-in, come-in. Faye and Charlie have got some wonderful news."
Jack did as he was told and smiled when he greeted them. "Hi Mr. and Mrs. Jones - so, what's the big news?"
The couple looked at each other and held each others hands tightly. Faye was giggling as she turned back towards him and said, "I'm pregnant!"
"We're gonna have a baby!" Charles added.
Jack was taken aback by this. It was very exciting news. After all these years, they were finally going to be parents.
"Finally got one of your boys through, eh Chuck!" Jack heard his dad say.
"None too soon," Charles answered.
"Wow - this is incredibly good news!" Jack finally said. He extended his hand toward Charles and said, "Well, congratulations are in order. How did you find out?"
Charles shook his hand as Faye answered his question. "Well, it was the strangest thing. When I woke up this morning, I felt absolutely dreadful. I started throwing up at an alarming rate. Charles got worried so he took me to the doctors. The doctor told me that it was probably morning sickness. As good as it was we just couldn't believe him. He was almost positive, but just to be sure, he asked to take a blood sample to test. But for our confirmation, he recommended that we take some at-home pregnancy tests. So we picked some up and went home immediately. And it turned blue! I mean - I know we shouldn't be getting ahead of ourselves and wait for the results. But right now, we're both too excited."
"Well it did turn Blue," your mom chimed in. "I think you two are justified in your expectations. You're going to have a baby!"
Jack was just taking all of this in. This was really strange. The woman sitting in front of him barely resembled the one he'd looked at on the street yesterday. The solemn expression she had clearly showed that things weren't going well with her husband. But now, they were as happy as could be; they were pregnant. But how could that be? According to their story, all of this seemed to happen overnight. And judging from the look of her yesterday, it was a safe bet that it had. The previous day, she was the withering shell of a woman, starved for attention. Now she was so vibrant and full of life - no pun intended.
Jack suddenly had a disturbing thought; was all of this something to do with the coin he'd bought? How ironic was it that he had a coin with pregnant people on it, he looked at Faye when he flipped the coin...and now she was pregnant. Had the coin given her what she wanted? No way - that was just too bizarre.
Jack suddenly remembered that he had to get to work, and wanted to stop for a late breakfast on the way. So he looked at his watch and began to politely excuse himself.
"That is such great news you two," he said. "I'm sorry I can't stay for more, but I've actually gotta get to work. But, congratulations again, and good luck with everything."
"Thank you, Jack," Faye said. So Jack left the room and went back upstairs to get the rest of his stuff. He grabbed his wallet, keys and cellphone. But before he walked out of the room, he looked back at the desk and saw the coin there again. He was a bit confused about what to think. It seemed like an extraordinary coincidence that he'd bought that coin, and then Faye became pregnant the very next day. It was impossible - not only was she over 40 years old, but she also had PCOS. It truly was some kind of miracle.
And that's what made Jack a bit nervous. He didn't believe in the Occult...but what if? Just what if the coin could somehow affect her fertility? Ever since he'd bought the coin, he'd been hearing some strange thoughts in his head; it told him to flip the coin and then look at someone. He looked at Faye, and now she was pregnant. And if the coin had nothing to do with it - then why did it happen now? He knew that Charles and Faye had long since given up trying. So why did it happen now?
He pushed the thought out of his head, he was just confusing himself. He was about to leave again, when suddenly he felt something in his mind. Something told him not to leave it behind. He didn't think much of it. He just reached over and grabbed the coin and dropped it into his pocket. He left the house and went out to his car. He drove off...
