Chapter #5Highway to the Dangerzone by: Unknown You figured that Aqua didn't need to know what was going on. So as the titanic kelpie steps forward and lets out a sigh, you make a run for it to avoid getting stepped on. You run up towards her beach towel and duck into a pocket on her titanic flower printed jacket. Aqua takes her towel and dries herself off as she takes a deep breath and closes her gills. "That's enough ocean for one day," she said. "Back to the apartment." You duck deeper into Aqua's pocket as she puts on her jacket and takes her surfboard and begins to walk back towards Horroville, towards Monster Arms.
You shiver at the thought, you were in Horrorville and headed towards an apartment complex housing at least twenty monsters. Monsters that might not take kindly to seeing a human lifeguard from Terrordale, their hated rival city. You wonder if you'll even be able to reach Petra without getting torn to bits. Come to think about it, you had never even met Petra before. You had no idea what she looked like because Roxy didn't show you a picture of her yet. Well given that she was Roxy's sister, she was obviously a gargoyle so that gave you a clue and from what Roxy said, Petra was the only gargoyle in Monster Arms. Logically if you find a gargoyle, you'll find Petra.
Forty five minutes later you hear a door turning and you peak out to see Aqua has reached the apartment complex known as Monster Arms. You gulp. You were about to venture into the hornet's nest. You don't know the monsters in this building, for all you knew, this could be a house of monsters as mean as Stella or even Hannah.
Aqua walks into the building and you look around to see some of the walls were beginning to decay and the wallpaper was coming loose. You shake your head. This Nefernina woman sure did a shoddy job keeping this place together. Then you hear stomping a see a monster come from the mailroom and hide back into Aqua's pocket. The monster was a crimson skinned manticore woman with purplish hair. She was very obese, looked even moreso that Roxy and was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans as she was carrying a newspaper upstairs. The manticore also coughed slightly and held onto her forehead.
"Hi Astrid," says Aqua. "That flu isn't getting any better is it." Astrid just makes a sniveling noise. "No, Chel said it would take a few days to get better. How's the beach doing without me." Huh. Astrid must've been a lifeguard at the beach you washed up on. Aqua lets out a laugh. "They're missing a good lifeguard. Can't wait to have you back." "Thanks." "By the way. How'd you get the flu anyway Astrid? Isn't it a human disease. As far as I know, you don't even eat humans and you're a manticore." Astrid rolls her eyes and looks around. "I'd rather not say." She said weakly." As Astrid walks up stairs, you see her moon sized cheeks shaking along with her large scorpion's tail.
What she said was obviously a cover up for something but you didn't care as long as Aqua was walking upstairs. As soon as she reaches the top, you were going to run out and find whichever apartment Petra lived at. Roxy said Petra knew about you and you're certain she'd help you back to Terrordale without her neighbors tearing you a new hole for trespassing into Horrorville.
However, as Aqua is walking upstairs, you hear footsteps behind her. "Uh-oh." You say. The monster following Aqua was a giant gorgon girl with gray skin, black cobras for hair and a pair of yellow sunglasses to keep from petrifying anyone who looked her in the face. "Oh hi Georgia," says Aqua. "How was the art contest." Georgia's snake hair hisses loudly and you cower in Aqua's pocket. Georgia is in a bad mood.
"That white furred bag of Terrordale flea bait!" she yelled. Georgia must've been talking about Kath, a weretiger painter who visited Gravefield beach on a regular basis to get some fresh air as she worked on her masterpieces. "I stayed up all night working on an iron sculpture of Echidna herself," says Georgia as she grits her teeth. "And that bitch from Terrordale wins with a painting of a bunch of turtle skeletons! Lousy Terrordale."
"I'm sorry about that Georgia. Gotta go." "No," says Georgia. "We need to talk. Remember the five skulls I loaned you three weeks ago?" Aqua lets out a laugh as you cover your ears. "Oh yeah, thanks gorgon duddette, I was short on the rent that day. If it weren't for you, Cleofatra would've thrown me out." You actually laugh at that joke. That must've been the tenants' nickname for Nefernina. Cleofatra. That's clever.
Georgia then makes her hair hiss and shake and Aqua gets the message. "Oh. Don't worry Georgia. I ain't no deadbeat. I've got the cash." Then you realize something. You're standing in the pocket where Aqua keeps her wallet. "Crap!" you yell. Aqua's hand reaches in and you tremble and try to run. If Aqua grabs you, she'll realize you stowed away. And if Georgia finds out you're from Terrordale, even if she was normally friendly towards humans, you'd be in big trouble. But can you get out of the way as Aqua reaches for her wallet? | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
