"Nina, honey, are you okay?" Farley called, seeing that his device had in fact worked, but not as he had expected.
Nina's slim, petite body still stood there, but her head had vanished, replaced by a youthful looking blond girl with sparkling blue eyes. "O-M-G, I'm freaking out. Where am I? And, like, who's Nina? Is she like, your girlfriend or something? And why do I feel so funny?"
"Calm down," Farley said. "I'll explain. Nina is my wife. We were testing one of my inventions, but it looks like it some how caught you along with her. I don't want to startle you, but if you look down, you will see that your head is atop her body," the more Farley talked, the quicker each word followed the last as his excitement grew. "Which is exactly, sort of, what the device was supposed to do. It is for switching heads between bodies.... I had intended to test it on myself and Nina, but some how, it caught her and you instead. Please, don't panic, I'll make things right, I promise, we'll have you back on your body in no time!"
"Oh wow," Sophia said, looking down and taking in the differences between her own body and Nina's. "I'm tiny! I haven't been this small since seventh grade! This is so, totally, completely cool! OMG, look at that rock," she exclaimed, seeing the engagement and wedding ring on her finger. "I have to take a picture of this, Lisa and Gwen won't believe it if I don't!" Sophia began combing through the pockets in Nina's skirt before turning and looking around for a purse. "It's cool if I use her cell phone to take some pictures right?"
"Um, yes, I suppose that would be fine," Farley said, still trying to take in the energy Sophia was exhibiting. It was unusual to say the least, to see his wife's body moving about with such exuberance, she'd always been more.... refined? Reserved? Graceful, he supposed. "Um, I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Farley Baelin, Dr. Farley Baelin. Can you tell me your name?"
"Oh, that's way bad manners! I'm so sorry," she said, bouncing over to stand in front of him and energetically extending a hand to shake his. "I'm Sophia Roberts, I'm a senior at East Valley High. And cheer captain, student body vice president, and this year's homecoming queen. This is sooo cool," she said, turning back to your wife's purse and pulling out her driver's licence. "Check this out! It even has my picture on it! With her name. See, Nina Baelin-Valipera, eyes: blue, hair: blonde, and that's so totally my face! Wow, 5'5"? No wonder I feel so tiny!"
Taking the ID from her hands, Farley looked at it in confusion. How was this possible.... the device was only supposed to swap heads, wasn't it? What had it done?
