Within Emily and Jane's conversation, there was the briefest of pauses, and then...

"Oof," Jane quickly grumbled, feeling something below the counter. "Baby kicks hard!"
Emily nodded in silence. As an expecting woman herself, Emily could deeply relate to Jane's groans and mumbles of discomfort – and seeing as the two were relatively the same stage within their pregnancies (albeit Jane further along) – they shared an agreement of the familiar feeling.
"You can say that again," Emily scoffed – feeling her own flurries of kicks (softer than before, though perhaps her child had settled themselves?). "Though, how far along are you? Could be contractions?"
"Nah," Jane waved the thought away, standing up slightly. "I'm about due – though, that'd be true if we spoke one week ago. Still, these are kicks; hard kicks, but kicks nonetheless." Despite the two never having truly spoken with one another, Jane spoke about her pregnancy with finesse – with unforeseen experience.
"Right," Emily added, her head tilted away at her friends – their conversation muffled from afar.
"Welp," Jane sighed deeply, handling the order on the counter. "Here's the order! Enjoy."
"Thanks! Enjoy the last days of your pregnancy – I'm sure birth will be... a breeze?"
"Yeah, right! Thanks for the optimism."
Emily picked the order up from the wooden counter and...
