The sun was setting, casting long shadows over the dilapidated buildings of the industrial district. Kyle and Damien walked side by side, the silence between them filled with anticipation. Kyle glanced at his younger brother, who was fidgeting with the hem of his new shorts.
“Oh, man! I can’t wait to get to the warehouse so I can test out my cool, new powers!” Damien said, as he had almost started running to the warehouse when he spotted the building from a distance.
"Ready?" Kyle asked, a grin spreading across his face.
Damien nodded, his eyes wide with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. "Let's do this."
Kyle used his keys to unlock and open the big steel, sliding door and the boys walked in. Their voices echoed since the warehouse was all empty at that moment.
They stepped into the cavernous space of the abandoned warehouse, the echo of their footsteps a stark reminder of the emptiness. Dust motes danced in the beams of light that pierced through the broken windows.
“Okay, little bro! Do your thing! The ceiling of the warehouse is about thirty feet from the ground. So, try both shrinking and growing if you want!” Kyle suggested.
The boys walked over to the center of the vast, expansive room where they stopped and turned to face each other. Kyle didn’t know what to expect at first if Damien was going to grow or shrink. He just stood there and watched.
Damien took a deep breath and concentrated. Kyle watched in awe as his little brother's form began to shrink, his body condensing down to a mere 6 inches. The shorts, made of a super stretchy material, shrank along with him, clinging to his tiny frame.
“This is just… incredible!” Kyle uttered as he watched his brother’s frame dwindle right before his very eyes. It was just amazing to see Damien shrink like that. It only took a few seconds for Damien to shrink himself from 5 feet tall to only 6 inches in height, suddenly making him the smallest human being on the planet!
"Whoa..." Damien's voice was a high-pitched squeak, but it was filled with joy.
Kyle crouched down to get a better look at miniature Damien, who was now running around, exploring the world from his new perspective.
"How does it feel?" Kyle asked, his voice a gentle rumble from Damien's tiny vantage point.
"It's amazing!" Damien called out, his voice barely above a whisper due to his size. "Everything's so huge!"
Kyle extended his right hand, motioning for Damien to step on the palm of his giant hand. Damien did just that, and Kyle got back on his feet, raising Damien up so he could get a closer look at his tiny brother, who was standing inside the palm of his hand.
“Don’t drop me, bro! I’m tiny now!” Damien shouted.
Kyle reached over with his other arm and poked Damien in the stomach with his index finger, very gently.
“HEY! Be careful! Just wait for me to grow huge! Then I’m gonna be the one to pick YOU up and to hold YOU in the palm of MY hand!” Damien shouted angrily while pointing his finger at his giant brother. “Okay, set me back down, bro!”
Kyle smiled as he squatted down, gently setting Damien on the ground before him. Kyle then stepped back, anticipating seeing Damien grow himself back to his normal size, or beyond! Damien looked around at first, before he stood still and took a deep breath as he stood right before his brother in the middle of the warehouse.
After a few minutes of exploration, Damien focused again, and this time, he began to grow. The warehouse, once vast and imposing, seemed to shrink around him as he expanded. 10 feet, 15 feet, and then, with a final surge, Damien stood at a towering 20 feet tall.
“Ohh…. Whoa…. WHOOOAAAAA!” Kyle gasped as he watched Damien just grow bigger and bigger and then much BIGGER… Right before his very eyes!
Kyle had to crane his neck to look up at his younger brother, who was now a giant. The shorts stretched to accommodate Damien's new size, and he let out a booming laugh that echoed off the walls.
“AWWW, YEAH!” Damien roared as he towered over 16-year-old Kyle, who barely reached Damien’s quads, just past his knees. Damien was just over three times as tall as Kyle by now!
"I'm bigger than you now, Kyle!" Damien boomed, a playful smirk on his face.
Kyle laughed, stepping back to take in the full view of his giant 10-year-old brother.
"You sure are, little bro. Just remember, no matter how big you get, you'll always be my little brother."
Damien's laughter filled the warehouse, a sound of pure, unadulterated delight. For a moment, they were just two brothers, sharing an adventure in a world that was entirely their own.
Then Damien squatted down, his giant hand reaching down, as his massive fingers wrapped around Kyle’s body, before lifting the older brother off the ground. Kyle felt his body rise higher and higher, until he was at the same level as Damien’s gigantic face.
“Ahh… I LIKE THIS!” Damien roared. “How does it feel, to be the small guy, big bro?”
“Uhh… It is very… Uhh… Humbling!” Kyle stuttered.
“Get used to seeing your little bro as the big bro from now on!” Damien laughed out loud as Damien squatted down and set him back on the floor.
Kyle looked back up at his gigantic brother, who suddenly started to shrink!
As Damien started to shrink again, Kyle could only wonder how tall Damien would end up, knowing that Kyle himself was about 6 feet tall?
