"I think I'll sell my life to Mariana Cruz." Lisa said. She didn't particularly want to become someone with one leg since she loved cheerleading and dancing. Also she worried that settling down and starting a family would be harder since most men wouldn't be interested in an amputee. But she felt bad for Mariana, she found her passion and had it taken from her. If Lisa was able to keep her dream of becoming a teacher alive, then she would gladly give Mariana her dream back.
"I'm glad the Nexus could find someone that suited you Lisa. Most life sales are quite far and few between." Tina explained to Lisa.
"So when can we make the sale?" Lisa asked.
"Well, I'll contact Ms. Cruz this afternoon and if all goes well, we can have you both here within a week or less." Tina said.
"Okay. I get to spend some time with my family before I hand them over to Mariana." Lisa said as she signed some papers declaring her intent to sell her life.
"There is one thing Ms. Hale, these purchases include a non-disclosure agreement that prohibits both parties from telling other people about their sale. It's designed to protect both of you. Violations can create legal problems and allow one party to seek damages against the other." Tina explained to Lisa before she got out of her chair. "For example, the government might pull your new pension or GI Bill if they knew you were not the actual Ms. Cruz who earned those benefits. Likewise, your parents could disown Ms. Cruz and deteriorate the quality of your life that she purchased from you. Aside from you two and the Nexus, nobody can be privy to this sale." Tina said while sounding like a lawyer.
"It sounds harsh, but I understand. I want both of us to be successful." Lisa said with sincerity before walking out of Tina's office.
