Chapter #6Beast Boy by: Unknown Beast Boy was fiddling around with a machine in Cyborg's lab. It was labeled 'Experimental' and, in a larger font, 'Beast Boy Do Not Touch!'. It was also a ray gun, and had a big, shiny red button surrounded by yellow-and-black striped tape. Beast Boy couldn't resist; he mashed the button enthusiastically. The ray hummed. It whirred. Then it spat out a beam of light which hit Beast Boy square in the forehead. Then it fell silent. The green Titan staggered out of Cyborg's lab. He hadn't bothered to look for what the ray was called or what it did, so he had no way of knowing that he was displaying the first side effect of shrinking -- dizziness.
Robin came walking down the hall, and noticed the shapeshifter milling about aimlessly. He came up to him and said, "Hey, Beast Boy, I need someone to pick up the laundry. Can you do that?" BB, feeling light-headed, simply nodded before heading for the laundry area.
When he got there, he took two baskets and began sorting. The Titans had a mountain of laundry, even when you exempted Cyborg -- who didn't wear clothing for obvious reasons. That left Robin, Beast Boy, and the girls' laundry. The young shapeshifter grabbed clothes by the armful and started shoveling them into the waiting baskets. As he did so, an outside observer would quickly realize why he was rarely tasked with the laundry -- he just sorted the clothes into two piles, one for him and Robin, another for the girls. But after a while, Beast Boy started to feel nauseous -- another of the symptoms of the shrink ray.
By the time he was about three-fifths of the way done with the laundry, the Titan began to feel a splitting headache. The baskets began to swim before his eyes, the dizziness returned and his legs gave out from under him. Beast Boy fell backwards, hitting the floor with a thud, and slipped into unconsciousness.
When Beast Boy came to, everything was larger. Much, much larger. He slowly came to the realization that he had shrunk. While the now-tiny Titan had a panic attack, one of his now-huge friends made their way down the steps. Hoping to get noticed, Beast Boy turned himself into a whale.
Terra came walking down the steps. She saw the half-finished laundry and groaned. "Again, Beast Boy?" She was about to walk over when she saw what appeared to be a large beetle. She raised her boot and stomped on it. When she lifted her foot, the beetle had vanished. "Good riddance" she muttered, grinding her boot on the floor, before walking to the laundry.
Beast Boy had, at the last second, turned into a hummingbird and flown away from the crushing shoe. He then tried to fly to Terra, but he was so tiny that only a gust of wind from the vent nearby allowed him to get close to her. Unfortunately, he arrived just as Terra dumped a load of underwear on the girls' pile. He had just enough time to revert to human form before he was knocked out by the impact. Meanwhile, Terra grabbed the baskets and walked out. She set the girls' basket in the hall with her, Raven, and Starfire's rooms. The other girls came out and grabbed their clean clothes, anxious to get out of their three-day-old outfits.
At this point, Beast Boy stirred, and found himself in...  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
