Chapter #12

Going on an adventure

         "Fine" You snarled.
Her face kept it's stare before she blinked. Her anger didn't leave entirely, but her enthusiasm isn't gone. "Thank you, now if you don't mind, we need to get going." She tried to walk past you but you stopped her with a hand on her shoulder.
"If you double-cross me..." you left the consequences unsaid. Can you really harm her more than she's offered? She tried to push your hand off, but you push her back. "It's a long way there. Go home. Get supplies. You have five minutes. Do you know the way?"
She shrugged off your arm, opening her mouth to say something but closing it with a nod. She dashed back into the hallway towards home. You sit on your knees. You have no idea what you've truly gotten yourself into. She's a micen. She's food. Why care about her kids? They're food as well, just smaller. Hell, why care about her?
A scurry caught your ear. You looked above to your right. The three micen are still in the hallway near the top of the cylinder. They're laying down, just barely poking their head above the edge to see you. You rolled your eyes and stand up, making you almost tall enough to see their faces. When you were on your feet, they got to theirs and ran off. You smirked at their cowardice, able to see at least some micen were smart enough to see the danger you impose.
Your thoughts circled back around to Desire. She treated you like another micen. Perhaps lesser than that. You sit back down and ponder why you didn't bite her head off, or why you ate the slaver when you weren't hungery, mainly because she told you so.
A bit later, the sound of running footsteps made you lose focus. You're sure it hasn't been five minutes, but Desire has returned. She had her dufflebag on her shoulders until she slung it around and dropped it on the floor. Her knees gave and she fell on her hands, completely out of breath. She held her chest as her breath was scratchy and irregular.
You sigh as you get on your hands and knees, grasping and tossing her gently on your back. You pick up the dufflebag and wrap it around your neck before you headed down the hallway the slaver pointed out. You heard Desire mumble out two words, "Thank you." and held onto your fur.
You didn't say anything, you just simply followed the slaver's directions at a bit of a jogging pace.
