Natalie had been very careful in carrying the bag with Olivia in it back to her home. Part of it was because Olivia was only six inches tall. But part of it was because Olivia was the first friend that Natalie had had in a long, long time.

Natalie developed a crush on Dan, but it was one that Dan didn't return. He was very fond of Natalie, but there was nothing romantic about his feelings for Natalie.
Even though he provided well for Natalie, Dan's job required him to be gone for weeks at a time. With no friends at school, Natalie felt alone all the time. So finding a friend, even if she was only six inches tall, was a wish come true for Natalie.
Natalie put the bag on her desk and helped Olivia out of it. Olivia was obviously very nervous. But then, it's hard to be confident when you're nude and less than a tenth of the height of the person you're having to trust with your welfare.
