As you look around in the dark, your and Jane's flashlight's suddenly pass across a shadowy form sprawled out on the beach near the water. Quickly focusing your attention on it, the two of you cautiously approach to take a closer look. As you get closer it becomes easier to identify what, or rather, who, it is you've found. You breathe a sigh of relief as you realize that you've found Linda. But something seems... odd. She seems fast asleep.

Jane scowls. "So this is what the fuss is all about? She scares us half to death, and it turns out she was just taking a nap the whole time? Unbelievable!"

You frown a bit. "I dunno... that wasn't a lot of time for someone to fall asleep, even Linda."

Jane snorts. "Oh please. We should have -known- it'd be something like this. Well, I'm waking her up! She can take a nap later!" She marches over to Linda's unconscious form. She gives your prone friend a hard nudge with her foot, but Linda doesn't seem to react. Frowning, she bends down to flip her over, only to stumble back with a scream, landing on her butt!

You quickly rush over to help. "Jane! What is it? What's wrong?!"

She lifts a trembling finger, pointing at Linda's head. "H-her head! It- it's-!" She can't quite seem to get it out. Looking in the direction she's pointing, your mouth drops as you realize what the problem is. Linda isn't asleep. The top of her head has been sliced off, and is lying about a foot away. The inside of her head is completely empty. Her brain has been stolen!

"W-well! Um... That would certainly explain why she's just lying here..."

Jane gives you an incredulous look as she staggers to her feet. "H-how can you be so calm about this Ramona? Linda's been lobotomized!"

You place a hand on her shoulder to try and help her relax. "Hey, calm down. It''s magic, remember? She hasn't -actually- suffered any permanent damage. If we can find her brain, we can put her back to normal good as new."

"O-oh. Right. I kinda... forgot. About that part, I mean."

"Heheh, it's fine. This IS pretty shocking. I certainly didn't expect the headhunter to steal her brain."

Jane giggles a bit, having calmed down somewhat. "Heheheh, yeah. I mean, she's not exactly the brightest bulb on the tree. I mean, if -I- were going to go around stealing brains, I'd go for yours! You're like, the smartest one here!"

You roll your eyes and chuckle a bit despite yourself. At least Jane is no longer freaking out. Still, you really wish she hadn't said that part about how the headhunter should have gone for -your- brain out loud. It's your favorite part of yourself. If the headhunter is still around nearby (And he almost certainly is!) you don't want Jane giving him ideas.

"So, what do we do now?" Jane asks, turning to you for instructions.

"Hmm... Okay, you carry Linda's body back to the cabin. I'll stay out here and see if I can find either Tanya or Linda's brain."

"Wait, what? Why do -I- have to cart the brainless bimbo around?"

"Two reasons, actually! First, you're a lot stronger and more physically fit than me."

Jane gives you a grudging nod. "Okay, I guess that's true. But what's the other reason?"

You grin playfully. "Because if -you- look for her brain and actually -find- it, -you'll- have to be the one to pick it up and bring it back. Are you -sure- that's what you want to do~?"

Jane goes green at the thought of having to handle Linda's brain. "Ergh... Okay, point taken. But what about you? Aren't you worried that the headhunter will get you while you're out here on your own?"

You shake your head. "I mean, a little? But the faster we get this done, the less chance he has of ambushing us. And the fastest way to get this done is to split up. Don't worry, I won't be long. If I don't find Linda's brain or Tanya soon, I'll head straight back to the cabin."

Jane bites her lip as you give her your best reassuring smile. "Well... Okay... But don't take too long!" She bends down and hefts Linda's brainless body over her shoulder, holding your brainless friend's skullcap in one hand and her flashlight in the other.

"Heheheh, I'll be fine! Now, you better get going. I'll see you in a few minutes!"

Jane nods and sets off down the path back to the cabin, leaving you on your own to search the beach for Linda's missing mind. Eventually...
