Experimental brain transplant surgery saves either your life, or someone very close.

This choice: You return home the following day.  •  Go Back...
Chapter #6

You return home the following day.

The following day you were given the all clear and your father promptly arrived at the hospital to pick you up. Bringing with him some clothes for you to wear. Seeing as you'd apparently been dressed in the same ugly green gown for the last eight weeks.

Once dressed and on your feet, you had the rather unpleasant task of signing the various bits of paperwork promising to keep the transplant and the fact that your little brother was now Miko Lee exclusively to yourself. Feeling as if you were signing his life away as you did. But, you had to remind yourself, the rest of your family had all done it so it was best that you also play along.

After this was been taken care of, Dr. Kerry gave you some medicine and told you take it easy for a while. That you'd need at least another week off school. This being good news for you of course (not really looking forward to going back), but you knew fine well how much it would piss your little sister off. Seeing how she'd been back for weeks.

Speaking of which, on the car journey home your father filled you in on how exactly Tabitha was taking all this. It having obviously been quite strange for her at first, but after a few weeks she'd gradually gotten used to it. Becoming somewhat jealous in fact of him having his own apartment and his own cool clothes. Which was Typical Tabitha. Still, it was weird to think that she was so accepting of her elder brother now being a woman. That they all were. Mind you, I suppose they've had much longer to get used to it than I have. By several months. Imagining that they'd have all been just as weirded out initially as you were right now. Your father having even said as much.

"So, is he like... a real girly girl?" you asked. Attempting to picture what he actually looked like now inside your head. "You know, all dresses and skirts and stuff?" And whether or not David had truly gone over to the feminine side.

"No, I wouldn't say that," your father smiled as you pulled into your street. "He's still your brother after all, so I don't think the idea of dressing himself up and putting on makeup really appeals to him. He just does enough to get by. In fact, if it was up to him he'd probably still be wearing his old clothes. Though they'd hardly fit him anymore. He's quite petite." Adding somewhat awkwardly, "In, uh... in some aspects at least."

Which obviously intrigued you as to what exactly this meant. How can he be "petite" in some ways but not others?

It now being your chance to find out. Reaching the house two minutes later where David was apparently waiting for you inside. Feeling rather nervous as your father parked in the driveway and the two of you got out. All this talk of him learning how to be a woman making you wonder who exactly you were going to find. Would it still be the same 14 year old you knew or would it be someone else entirely? Thinking to yourself, Well, guess there's only one way to find out... Slowly heading through the front door and being immediately greeted by your mother, who wrapped her arms around you and told you how good it was to have you home. Receiving a similar warm welcome from your sister, who was standing behind. Along with a snide little comment about how "lucky you were" that you got to miss so much school (just as you'd anticipated).

These two encounters you'd obviously been prepared for, but what you'd hadn't been quite so prepared for was the third. Spotting another figure behind them both, standing there with a smile on her face. An Asian woman with long, jet black hair tied into a ponytail and big brown eyes that were framed by a pair of glasses. Dressed in a thick orange sweater and jeans. The front of the sweater pushing out quite dramatically in the chest area. Indicating that there was quite a substantial pair of breasts beneath. Though naturally your focus was almost exclusively on this strange woman's incredibly cute face. Knowing instantly who it was. It was Miko. It was your little brother.

"Hey, Tim," he/she greeted you with a little wave. "It's really good to see you." Her voice also sounding kind of cute. And with no trace of an accent at all.

Stuttering back somewhat awkwardly, "Uh... Heh-hey. It's... It's good to see you too." Your brain literally screaming now, Holy shit! ...That's him! That's David!? This realization being utterly surreal. Seeing how there was absolutely no trace of your little brother at all. Instead it just looked like a slightly nerdy looking Asian girl.

Recognizing the effect his appearance was having on you (having presumably been through it many times before), David replied, "Guess I seem a little different now, huh?"

Uh... Yeah! you thought, but didn't actually say it. Not wanting to appear rude. Answering instead, "Just... Just a bit." No doubt making him feel all the more self conscious with all the stuttering and staring you were doing. A far cry from the strong and supportive big brother you'd hoped you'd be. Acting instead like a gibbering wreck.

Your mother promptly interrupting this surreal reunion as she ushered everyone into the living room. Being unable to keep from staring at your little brother as you went. It just not seeming right that this was actually him. Your father having most definitely been right when he'd called him 'petite'. Having lost a good seven inches in height. Putting him at around the same size as Tabitha. And his figure (though obviously far more mature) wasn't far off hers either. Being super slim. If not for that previously mentioned shelf pushing out from his sweater you might have actually mistaken him for a 13 year old girl as well.

And so you all sat down in the living room. You directly opposite David. Pretty much staring at him the entire time. Not really saying much admittedly, but your mom and dad dutifully moderated this interaction. Catching you up on what you'd missed and getting David to explain what he'd been up to and how he'd been coping. Which from the sounds of it, was exactly as your father had previously said. He was putting his best foot forward and getting stuck into things rather than wallowing in self despair. Admitting that, "This is basically my life now so I suppose I just have to get on with it. Better this than being six feet in the ground". A sentiment that everyone in your family shared. Including you.

The conversation then moving onto his apartment and what living alone was like. David even suggesting that he give you a tour of what he jokingly referred to as his "sweet pad".

"Yes, that's an excellent idea," your mom agreed. "If you feel up for it, Tim. "

"I... I guess so," you replied.

To which David smiled, "Cool." Looking rather happy about the prospect. Possibly in a 'ha ha, look what I have and you don't' kind of way (he was your younger sibling after all), but this wasn't immediately obvious.

"Then how about we get some lunch and then I'll drive you both over there?" your mother said. "I've got some casserole to drop off anyway."

Leading your brother to groan, "Again? Mom, I can cook my own food you know."

"I know. But I made so much of it and I want to be sure you're eating right. Not just junk food."

"Junk food... Seriously?" he chuckled. "Have you seen the size of me?" It not looking like he was carrying much in the way of fat at all.

Agreeing to this idea as well, your little sister soon chimed in, wanting to go with you as well. Being reminded that she'd just been there earlier on and that you'd never actually seen it before. "Besides, it'll be good for your brother to spend some time together again," she continued. "Get used to everything that's changed." Or more specifically, let you get used to how he had changed. Which you imagined was going to take quite some time.

After lunch then (and after a quick look around your bedroom to make sure everything was still how you remembered) the three of you climbed into your mother's new car and made your way towards Miko's apartment. Learning even more about her along the way. The word 'geek' and 'nerd' coming up quite a bit. Having, like David, a keen interest in Anime. Miko, from the sounds of it, being a pretty ordinary young woman with a pretty uneventful life. And it didn't sound like David had gotten up to anything particularly wild or adventurous since becoming her either. Even though he could now legally drink, drive and had full access to a female body. Which was a thought that still made you blush. Even more so now that you had seen said body. Though obviously you didn't want to dwell on this too much. Due to him being your little brother and due to your own obvious discomfort.

No, instead David had been pretty much keeping his head down these last two months. Spending most of his time working away on Miko's computer and only occasionally interacting with her friends. Which seemed to please your mom no end. Happy that Miko was such a nice, quiet girl and that David was behaving so responsibly. Instead of letting this new found freedom go completely to his head.
