You tugged and squirmed silently in your long quest to separate your flesh from the book cover you had been sealed to for the better part of twenty four hours. You began to feel the smallest parts of you begin to peel off the slick cover of the text book, your body exhausted from your long straining struggle.
Suddenly you jumped in shock as Dahlia's alarm went off, tearing another chunk of yourself free. To your horror however, her arm swung out to turn off her alarm and bumped into the book that held you, sending it tumbling over and over off the side of her bedside table to the floor below.
With a slapping sound, your book landed cover first, quickly undoing all your hard work as the book crushed you against the floor, closely followed by the weight of Dahlia as she sleepily stood up, one foot standing on the book and crushing you mercilessly.
You felt her weight lift off her as she headed off but you were still trapped between the book and the floor. You tried to struggle but it was no good, her weight plus the book has totally reset your efforts back to zero. You listened to the muffled sounds of her talking with her mother through the floor for a while before she came back to pack her bag for school.
Her fingers gripped the edge of you and you were lifted off the floor. You caught a flash of her room before being dropped into her bag and another heavy text book was placed in front of you and heavily pressing into you. It looked like you were heading back to school as a book cover. You really hoped Emma would finally spot you on the cover when she was given you again.
The trip to school was long and boring inside her bag, every footstep bounced the books, making them repeatedly slam into you over and over. By the time she got to school you had been slapped so much you were a pinkish colour. The zipper was opened and light flooded in as Dahlia pulled you out "here you go Emma, thanks for lending it to me" she said happily as Emma took you "any time. I'm happy to help" she replied cheerfully and turned you over looking right down at your cover.
The only thing is, had the constant smashing smeared your features to a weird pattern or were you visible?...
