You sigh, and after a moment fumbling with the laces, your sneakers join the other footwear already on the table.
"Pretty even game so far," you remark. You say it out loud more to yourself than the others; though you haven't lost any more than most of them, the draft your feet are now feeling is reminding you of how much you stand to lose. Or gain, you tell yourself, I need to focus on that part.
The rest of the table mumbles various statements of agreement, as they each pick up their new cards. "The night's still young," Lilith reminds you with a smile, before turning back to her cards. You give a weak smile in return, before doing the same.
