"Are you not forgetting something?" Sternly, mom asked.
Rikki produced a bracelet with a number of multicolored flowers; it looked like something Hannah would wear while playing dress up. "This bracelet is enchanted to keep you from becoming magically enrolled in this school." Placing it onto your wrist, she said. "You will only become enrolled if you willingly take it off yourself so keep it on until you are well off school grounds."
"Thanks for telling me." Looking at the bracelet, you said.
Mom sighed. "This is just a tour, Lucy." Patiently, she said. "I want you to see what both schools offer before you make any decisions."
With that said, Rikki lead you and mom to the first classroom where the teacher was teaching simple mathematics to a class of students. Seeing this confused you as you thought the school taught girls how to control magic.
"Magic and potion making is an exact art." Whispering, Rikki explained. "Mathematics plays a very important role; it is crucial that all witches know their math well and the best way to make certain of that is to start at the beginning."
"That makes sense." Smiling slightly, you said. "I mean you would not want to make anything too weak or worse too powerful, it may hurt someone."
"I'm so glad you understand, Lucy." Smiling, mom whispered. "This is why Hayley and Mel needed to be away for a year. Reckless use of magic is dangerous."
"Both boys and girls come to this school to learn magic." Smiling, Rikki said. "For the girls, it is a requirement but for the boys it is a chance to feel closer to their sisters and experience magic."
"Some boys who come here decide to remain girls for the rest of their lives." Chiming in, mom added. "However, they must make the choice out of their own free will."
"Is that why you and my sisters kept this from me for so long?" Curious, you asked.
"Part of it." Sighing, mom said. "I know how curious you are; I did not want your sisters to be tempted to sway your decision one way or the other."
You nodded then followed mom and Rikki as they moved on to another room where the teacher was demonstrating a simple spell. She summoned a small flame to her hand and caused it to change into the form of a horse that galloped around the room to the surprise and delight of the students. From the hall, you watched in wonder as the teacher took notice of you and sent the fiery horse running to you. It galloped around your head then neighed before vanishing. Your eyes were wide and filled with a childish wonder as you turned to the smiling teacher. "That was cool!" Whispering, you said.
"That is called a summoning spell." Politely, the teacher said. "I am Lucy Connor; welcome to Witchbloom all girls boarding school... Miss Harrison."
"Miss Connor taught Hayley and then Mel during their year here, Lucy." Smiling, mom said. "If you choose to attend here, she will be your teacher as well."
"Would you like to try that spell... Lucy?" Motioning you to enter, Lucy asked. "It's quite simple, once you know how to do it."
