Luckily, the two children were still largely occupied by their castle construction. As cumbersome as the rubber rings were, Claire managed to silently, if not gracefully, creep away with her makeshift coverings. She felt a little bad, considering she was, y'know, stealing from a couple of children, but desperate times, etc.
Also quelling her conscience somewhat was frustration with the meager cover she'd acquired. Far from a perfect solution, she knew that she'd make quite a sight walking down the pier, especially since it was quite obvious these rings are ALL she's wearing. Not to mention, as well as they fit while she was standing up, the rigid rubber rings did not take kindly to her shifting into other positions. Case in point, the lower of the two rings slid up as Clair crouched down to retrieve her bag, briefly exposing her before she stood up straight and pushed the ring back down.
So, with rings around her private areas and her bag in hand, Claire mentally prepared herself for what would hopefully be a quick and relatively painless journey. Of course, she wouldn't be expecting a happy journey if she had known...
