Water is your most important need, and the bathroom has it in abundance. Even splashes on the floor from someone overzealously washing their hands will be enough to sustain three quarter inch you for days at a time. And the foot traffic there, while brisk, should be more a case of 'in and out quickly'; in the break room, a giant could loiter for up to an hour, with an increased chance of spotting you!
As you slog through the thick, dry carpet fibres, you wonder how you're going to transport the water. In order to avoid having to make this trek too regularly, you'd best take back a decent quantity. But carrying back a barrel of water is just going to weigh you down, make you a bigger target and get you thirsty to boot! Not to mention the problem of getting it up to your camp on the top shelf...
No, you haven't though this plan through at all well! You look over the few canteens you're carrying with you. You've barely begun this trek and your tongue is already like a cracked twig in your mouth. This survival lark is going to be hell!
Passing between the stacks, towering higher than any edifice your larger self ever saw, you keep a look out for any raw materials that could be of use to you. The best you can manage are scraps of paper - the remains of notes fallen from the pages of books - which are too large to easily carry. You could slice sections off with your blade, but that would take time you don't have.
Seems the sterile environment of the library is not one suited to a scavenger!
'A day's trek' you estimated as the duration of the journey to the bathroom. You glance at your watch to see only a few hours have passed, and you've still got a way to go. Also, you have crossed the opening time of the library, and can soon expect giants to be about.
You can hear the distant rumble as they approach: for you there will be no silence in the library!
How should you react to the imminent arrival of these titans? You could continue your journey, sticking to cover where possible and largely ignoring them. Or you could dare to make use of their power, to hitch a ride on one as it passes, to lessen the time your journey will take.
Or you could postpone your search for water, and hide somewhere safe until the coast is clear.
