Sure, you had wanted to test yourself in survival situations. But you'd gotten yourself caught by this guy and if he continued to think you were less than human, who knows what he'd do. At least this way he'd keep you alive...probably. So it was pointless to say you weren't.
The guy's eyes widened and you saw in them a sense of wonder, of shock, of interest.
"...How?" he muttered, confused.
You were about to answer when the eyes flicked away from you and looked ahead - there was a customer approaching. With almost no hesitation you were hurriedly shoved into this guy's shirt pocket. You had no idea what was going on or how he'd treat you, but you also knew that for now you were relatively safe from the dangers of the store.
But that safety came at the cost of your freedom, of your own attempts to survive, which was the whole point of this. If that was still your goal, you should be trying to escape - or you could wait until later, after having been carried to a different, slightly safer environment.
