"I think they way it works is you will notice the swaps I make to people if I want you to. And I don't see why I wouldn't want you to know, we've been besties since we were little after all." Madeleine said. "We'll find out in any case, or maybe just I will."
"Okay, that's cool I guess." Charlotte nodded, putting her trust in Madeleine.
Madeleine then looked down the street and they both saw Luke and Rebekah entering the bus station. "So, you up for screwing with those two or not?" She asked Charlotte, who didn't hesitate, remembering what Luke had put her through.
"Hell yeah!" Charlotte stated firmly. "But how?" She then asked, less confidently.
"Oh I'm sure we'll think of something." Madeleine chuckled. "You want to follow them now, or do this tomorrow?" She inquired, making Charlotte think. Madeleine was aware of the time, 9:30pm, and she knew Charlotte would be tired after work.
"Well I'm working in the day tomorrow, so you could always come in and pretend to do some shopping." Charlotte suggested. She knew that all her co-workers would be present, including the two offending parties, Luke and his new girlfriend, and of course Liz, her annoying supervisor.
"Sounds good." Madeleine nodded. "So... you heading home?" She asked.
"Yeah, wanna stay over the night?" Charlotte replied.
"Er I'd love to, but my mother would throw a hissy fit if I stay out all night without telling her. And I left my phone in the house I was in that much of a rush to come and meet you outside work." Madeleine said. "Hey... you could come to mine if you like?" Madeleine counter-offered, and that got Charlotte's attention and approval. Since the last thing she needed after a shitty night at work was grief off her parents.
"Thought you wouldn't ask." Charlotte smirked, producing her phone so she could give her mother a ring. With that out of the way, the two set off walking to catch the bus home to Madeleine's house. And Charlotte had another question she just had to ask. "Maddy... have you used this power on anyone else? Your family for instance?" Her voice dripped with curiosity.
Madeleine smiled back. "Well you'll find out won't you." she giggled, brushing her long hair from her face. "If I decide to tell you that is." She winked.
"I guess I will." Charlotte sighed, looking forward to sleeping over at her friend's house. Now more than ever.
