Chapter #6Mom comes home by: tasteey   Katlyn hears the garage door opening. Mom is back from her shopping trip. Katelyn quickly uses the shapeshifting powers to return to her normal body just in time as Mom walks in the kitchen.
Mom sees Derrick sitting strapped in the high chair and tells Katlyn, “Thanks for finding that old thing. That will make eating much easier for Derrick!”
Katelyn stuck her tongue out at Derrick and whispers “See! I told you!”
Derrick rolls his eyes as Mom sets down the shopping bags. Derrick asks, “What did you buy at the store?”
Mom explained, “Minus the old nightgown of Katlyn’s that you found, we don’t have any other clothes to fit your body. I picked you up a few things that should last for a few days while you are stuck as a 4 year old.”
Mom grabbed a wet towel and cleaned Derrick’s face off from eating. She unbuckled him from the high chair and carried him into his bedroom. Mom began pulling items out of the bag. She started by opening a 5 pack of panties. Derrick noticed each of them had a different Disney princess theme. Mom smirked, “I tried to find you some regular white ones…but Its impossible to find underwear for a girl your age that doesn’t have all these cartoon designs on them.” Mom then laid the outfits she bought across Derrick’s bed. She explained, “I wasn’t sure what you would feel comfortable in so I got you a few different choices. Derrick held up a pair of yellow overalls with a flower on it. Mom said, “The pink top goes cute with those. You can wear that to play in around the house if you want..”
Derrick noticed another pair of jeans that had sparkles going down the legs. There was a matching top that said, “Daddy’s little princess” in sparkles. Derrick looked up at Mom with a glare. Mom sarcastically laughed, “Oh come on….Your father will get a kick out of that one!”
Derrick then looked at the 2 sundresses Mom bought. One had spaghetti straps with bows sewn in down the front. Mom explained, “You might want to wear that one if you go outside. It’s supposed to be hot the next few days. It will keep you cool.”
The next dress was pink tank with an attached white ruffled pettiskirt. Derrick held it up and told mom, “What is this? It looks like some sort of dance outfit?”
Mom shook her head, “It’s not a dance outfit. It’s just a cute dress that girls your age usually wear around.” Mom pointed out the window at the house across the street. “See! The Evan’s twin girls are both wearing one just like it!” Mom thought for a moment, “What are their names again? Ashley and…Tracy?”
Derrick looked out the window. He couldn’t believe he was now the same age as the Evan twins. Derrick corrected Mom, “It’s Ashley and Tricia. I can’t stand those two brats always running around and screaming in the neighborhood…”
Mom winked, “Maybe if you got to know them a little bit better?” Mom giggled, “If you get really bored…I could always tell Mrs. Evans that my niece is visiting and wants to play with her girls!”
Derrick rolled his eyes, “I can’t imagine getting THAT bored!”
Mom shrugged her shoulders, “Suit yourself. But you will soon find out with your added energy as a 4 year old that you are going to have to burn off that energy somehow.”
Derrick asked, “How long am I stuck like this again?”
Mom started doing some mental math. She said, “Hmmm….Katlyn is using the shapeshifting medallion today while she ‘poses’ for dress alterations. Your aunt Mindy and Uncle Matt’s vacation is over tomorrow. I promised I would meet them at the zoo in the morning with the shapeshifting medallion. It will give them both plenty of time to turn back to normal…”
Derrick interrupted, “OMG! I totally forgot they were at the zoo! I still can’t believe they wanted to spend an entire 2 weeks as zebras!”
Mom nodded, “You know they are both passionate about their research. I thought it was a great idea to get an inside view for their next book.” Mom continued with her math, “They probably won’t bring the shapeshifting medallion back until the next day or so. Pending everything goes right, that means you won’t be able to use it for about 3 days.”
As Derrick decided what outfit to wear, Mom walked over to the closet and pulled one last item out of a bag. Derrick watched as Mom hung up a fancier looking dress and asked, “What’s that for?”
Mom grinned, “I couldn’t resist! It was on sale! You will need it in case we go out for dinner!”
Looking over the collection of clothing, Derrick had to get dressed in something. He decided to put on….
