After dinner, James went into the livingroom to watch some TV. He settled on 'Austin & Ally' on the Disney channel. While he was watching, Lauren called. They got to talking and Lauren said that she was going to look at Prom Dresses tomorrow.
"Prom dresses already, but the prom is more than four months away," James said.
"I know that silly, but it takes time to find the right dress."
"But four months."
"Well its not only picking out the right dress, but you also have to wait for it to arrive and then you have to have it altered. It takes a long time. You can never start too early."
"Oh, OK."
"Do you want to go help me pick out the dress?"
When asked, the idea seemed like a lot of fun. It wasn't gay to just look at dresses. He wasn't going to try them on. Besides seeing Lauren in beautiful dresses sounded like a great idea. There was one problem. He didn't know anything about dresses and he didn't want to seem like a fool. "Yes, let's go." James said impulsively.
"Really?"
James did want to go, it did sound like a lot of fun, but his male ego which would have made him hesitate also made him not back out. "Yeah, I'd love to see you in all those pretty things."
"Great."
Then the two arranged a time. When James got off the phone he realized that he had to learn about dresses in a hurry so he went to talk to his mom. He explained what had happened and asked her for some pointers. James' mom liked Lauren and wanted to help both Lauren and her son so she tried to teach James the rudiments of dresses. James decided it would be best to just swap all of his mother's knowledge about dresses with his own. This swap didn't have to last long, he could swap it back after the shopping trip was over.
