This choice: Back When It Was Stories.Com • Go Back...Chapter #9Back When It Was Stories.Com by: ♥HOOves♥ The chill of Winter has temporarily given way to some warm sunny weather in my pasture. Another day is upon me. I spent much of yesterday mired in the semi-recent past. I think I ended in 2001 some time when the Site was still called Stories.com. That was a strange year. I will write more about it on another day.
Today I will write about the Game of Thrones experience I have had this time and I had last year. Last year I cheered for another team. I cheered and wrote a few poems and was very happy and excited to do that. I felt that way until I read something where one of the team members of the team I was cheering for fussed about cows in the forum. When I read that I felt embarassed and I sort of quit. I had, up to that point, cheered a lot, but I didn't feel it anymore so I sadly walked off into the meadow.
The person apologized and all was forgiven, but I did not feel excited anymore so I didn't do much.
This past year a lot of things happened. Most of the good stuff that has happened to me in the last couple of years starts out with me participating in Brooke is sleepy 's murder mystery adventure. I meet people in there and lots of good things seem to happen.
This year I met Hannah ♫♥♫ and intereacted with her. I had seen her and admired her from a far, but one day in Brooke is sleepy 's mystery train, I told someone something about her location. She was Vampy and Mr. Bones characters, at the time. Vampy took umbrage (rightly so!) and gave me a good thrashing on the train.
That was the start of a beautiful friendship.
Then later we interacted some more and she invited me to join her remooing group. Even though I have stayed away from being in a group doing reviews, I felt like it was time to be part of a team. There was no question of me joining another group.
I considered it, but I had two bad experiences with another bigger reviewing group's members (the one in G.o.T last year and another with a raffle at Christmastime. So, it was set that I joined PDG at the first of the year. When I heard they were doing a G.o.T. team I decided to try and compete. What could I have to lose?
I am doing my very best to be a credit to my Team. I guess the human character in Game of Thrones who I want to be like is Tyrion because he does his best even when people expect little or nothing from him. I don't know if he will prevail, but I think he has a good heart. I want to play with a good heart.
Getting back to Brooke is sleepy 's murder mystery adventures in September, I met lizco252 also. She opened my eyes and ears to the music of my life. It really enhanced my enjoyment of the site, tremendously. Her Soundtrackers Challenges are a lot of fun. We find music on a daily basis and write about it.
Before that, since my mother's death in 2005, I listened to maybe 4 CDs over and over again in the car. I never listened to music at home or on the computer. Soundtrackers got me to listen to some old Motown, Beatles, and even some Irish music I'd forgotten. Nine years is a long time to go with just listening to comforting music. I even bought a couple of Cher CD's this past Fall.
I will digress and tell you a little about my favorite music I listen to in the Pasture. First, there is Raglan Road, a poem/song that is Celtic in origin. It tells a beautiful story about unrequited love. Lately, I have listened to B.B. King's Stand By Me a lot. I really like that song and the words to it.
We got rid of Direct TV in March. I do not miss the cable type channels at all. We got sick and tired of that Direct TV bill going up and up for no reason. We cancelled and a week after our refund arrived (it took a month and they did it with a debit card from Citibank) they started sending us invitations to come back at 29.99 a month. We would have to do automatic debit from our checking account to get that. I wouldn't let those idiots have access to our bank account, first of all. Second of all, we were paying, for less than they are now offering almost 80$ a month in fees. It totally was not worth it.
Now, I watch local free TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime free stuff. I watch videos. I don't miss CNN or Fox News, not one bit. Recently, we went out of town and stayed in a hotel that had cable. It was not thrilling. We did watch the Women's College Softball World Series, but I could live without that.
I will have to wait until February to watch Season 5 of Game of Thrones. So what? It gives me something to look forward to in February besides my wedding anniversary and grandson's birthday.
In January next year I will watch the final Season of Downton Abbey on PBS, which is, of course on free tv..
Currently, on Amazon Prime, we are watching The Good Wife. I had never seen that before. On Netflix, we watched The Gilmore Girls about 5 times. I could watch that show for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. Logan, from The Gilmore Girls, is an important character on The Good Wife. It is a good show with a lot of humor.
Mr. hooves watches The Walking Dead and I watch Madmen. We like our shows. I digressed a lot here, but that will happen as my Interactive Story will have a lot of mind wandering. That is what happens when a bull is in the field alone on a sunny day outside of Westeros. I think about things. I write about things.
