Aronn of High-hill was determined to get his chance to take power. He had waited for this chance all his life. The old King had ruled for too long and, now departed, gave this thin slice of a chance for Aronn and his men.
Aronn had been borne with great poverty. His mother was clever and gained a position with the High-hill servers. As Aronn grew up, he befriended the boy Earl - Targon of High-hill. The two were inseparable as boys, and soon Aronn's mother became Targon's high maid. This meant the boys had as much time as they wished to play together and learn to fight. They soon realised that together they could be strong enough to replace the old King, or perhaps die trying.
Targon decreed that Aronn was his brother. It was made law in High-hill, and from then on they were an unbeatable force in the hills. They slowly gained land and became known to the old King afar. The King sent troops to the edge of the hills to try and capture the brothers - they were never caught. It was true that the old King feared the brothers but he did not voice his concerns to anyone.
So, Aronn of High-hill and his troops, gathered outside of the town's wall. He blackmailed some servants to let them into the King's land and slowly made his way to the court.
Targon, meanwhile, remained at High-hill, fearful of retribution. Even if Aronn was successful, Targon had no intention of letting the hill land fall. With the King's land and High-hill, the brothers would be a force that would be hard beaten.
