After a countless eternity of cold, wet, dark silence, you feel the packed sand above you getting shifted and someone's toes press into you. This is quickly followed by more sand being scraped off and a hand grips you around the middle. Someone pulls you up and out of the sand, it falls off you in wet clumps as someone begins to beat your towel shaped body to knock off more sand.
The world is too bright and the sudden rush of sounds is garbled and deafening, though you begin to adjust. "...ike Pattys towel from months ago. You know, that really soft one!" The faces and bikini clad bodies of your friends come into focus. They had found you, what did they mean months ago? How long had you been buried.
You tried to wriggle in Anas grip as she stroked her hands over you but she didn't seem to notice. "It's soaking wet. Probably had the sea on top of it hundreds of times." She said before rolling you up and wringing you out painfully. You felt all the water trickle out of you and watched it wash some of the sand off.
Kat smiled "we can wash it when we get home then take it back to patty!" You had mixed feelings over that, true patty might remember it's you if her friends give you back, but that doesn't mean she will help you. If mom and dad found out she lost you at the beach for months trapped as a towel she would be grounded until parenthood.
As usual though, you don't get a say as your friends think your just a towel and this fabric paint is stopping you from proving otherwise. Ana stuffs you in their beach bag and zips it up. You feel her lift it up and swing it gently as she carried it along. Obviously they aren't calling their day short over your discovery and your going to spend a long time in the dark bag, at least your not buried at the beach.
You drift in and out of consciousness as the girls enjoyed their day at the beach before eventually being stuffed in the washer with their towels and bikinis once they got home. Spinning around the metal drum in the warm water you felt cleaner than you had in months. You couldn't wait to go home.
After a nice warm nap in the dryer, Ana folded you up gently and headed to your house to return you, she knocks at the door...
