Alex didn't see himself as having a choice. Who knew when another student or professor would come along. By the time they arrived the Bats-R Ray might go missing! Despite the inherent risk he was going to have to go after it. He struggled to keep his shirt on as he moved towards the classroom door. He was down to eleven years of age now and only about two feet tall if even that. His shirt and last protection of his modesty wouldn't last long like this. He paused just briefly to rearrange the shirt on himself. When he was done he was wearing it less as a shirt, and more as a toga that covered most of chest and legs. He looked strange in it, but it was better than running around naked.
With that Alex tried to leave the classroom. The doorknob was difficult to reach and he had to push a stool over to reach it. He realized he would have a similar problem getting outside the actual school building... But at least that would be the only other door between him and the ray. He'd figure that one out when he got down the stairs.
Alex shoved the door open just enough of a crack for him to see out. Thankfully it was outside normal school hours. The halls looked abandoned for now, they usually were on the weekends. Only a few people or professors with ongoing projects and approaching deadlines ever game into the lab here. Admittedly, running into a trusted professor might make things easier. On the other hand he was a little embarrassed at his current state. For now he's be happy to be alone, but if someone did find him he reminded himself not to turn down the chance for help.
Alex strode out into the hall, his bare feet moving across the cold tile floor. As he moved... He couldn't help but notice how creepy the school halls were when they were abandoned. It was almost like anything could be waiting to jump out at him. He found himself jumping at the slightest noise each time he heard it. He was jogged from this fear by another though... as his makeshift toga began to slip over his feet. That was right, he was still getting smaller and younger! He tried to remind himself, he had been through the school countless times! His younger brain was playing tricks on him, making him thinking something absolutely normal was spooky. He wondered how old he was now, it was hard to guess without examining himself. However judging by the rate he had been regressing in the lab he could estimate he was somewhere around 8 or 9.
Alex reached the stairs. Each stair represented a considerable drop in height for him. He was only about a foot and a half tall now. Each movement his toga threatened to get tangled up in his legs and trip him. The threat was only compounded with him having to lower himself down each stair. Each step down was likely around 7 inches down. That was almost half his body height. He couldn't simply walk down. He had to slowly turn and lower himself down each step one by one. It was a slow and arduous process. It only got harder as he got smaller.
Eventually Alex reached the bottom. He was now down to a mere foot tall. Worse, he was no older than seven years of age. His toga no longer fit at all. He carried it around him as if he had tried to drape himself in a tent. He quickly shambled towards the front door of the lab as fast as he could. There ha paused. The door was one of the ones you had to push on the handle to get outside. From his vantage he could see no possible way to get past the door. Was he just stuck here until someone came along?
