Chapter #5

Sisterly Sleepover with Surprising Size Surge!

    by: Somebody Author IconMail Icon
Today has not been a great day. First you got stuck in traffic. Made you miss a meeting that you gathered was important, based on how much your boss chewed you out for it. You ended up spilling coffee all over your desk, and now your keyboard was sticky, and a few stacks of paper were ruined. And to top it all off, the people running the drive-thru got your food wrong! You said no mayo, not extra mayo!

The only saving grace was that your ride home was smooth. Each traffic light changed green as you approached, as if the gods were smiling upon you. You were just going to go home, relax, and not worry about a thing. At this point, nothing could possibly stop you from at least doing that.

Or atleast, that's what you thought until you saw your sisters car sitting in your driveway.

Expecting to find her on your porch, you instead didn't see her at all, although your front door is wide open. More than a little annoyed at the intrusion, you set your car to park and stumble inside to the sight of your sister standing next to your mirror, standing on her tip toes as she measures herself with an extended ruler of yours.

"Jessica, what are you doing?"

She let out a startled shout as the ruler retracts quickly, smacking her hand, causing her to drop it on the hardwood floor with a loud CLACK. "Oh, Jack! I didn't think you'd be home so soon." "It's 6, Jessica." You respond. "But what do you mean you didn't think I'd? What are you even doing here?"

She bites her lip as you ask her this, and stares at the ground. "I, well...John dumped me, and I can't go to my place." "Well why not?" you ask in an annoyed tone.

"He has my keys. Took them with him and drove to some... druggy friends place."

You roll your eyes, and catch sight of the ruler on the ground. "And measuring yourself? Still can't let it go?" She scoffs at this. "Don't be ridiculous! I was just... measuring...things. Like your mirror."

Obviously you don't buy that (considering the websites she looks at when she forgets to clear her search history on your computer), but you let it go. "Okay, sure. And how long have you been doing that?"

"Well I've been here for about 4 hours, so..." "4 hours? How did you even get in the house? Did you take up lockpicking?" you ask, surprised that she ever managed to get inside.

"Jack...the whole 'key under the welcome mat' thing is pretty obvious, you know."

"Oh, right." You cringe. "Forgot about that key."

For a few moments, neither of you say anything. The silence is so thick you could cut it with a butter knife. Fortunately, Jessica speaks up. "So, where do I sleep?"

Immediately you decide to put your foot down. "Well, I don't have a guest bed, and you're not sleeping in my bed. You can use the couch." "What!" she practically yells, "You wouldn't make your sister sleep on the couch!" "I would, and I am!" "You are not! Can't we share the bed?"

This statement causes you to cringe again, as you remember sleeping in the same bed at a young age. It was miserable.

But...she's a grown woman now. Times have changed, right? Maybe she can hog the blankets a little less nowadays, and maybe she no longer snores? "Okay, fine." you say. "One night." With that, she smiles, and wraps you in a sudden hug, which you reluctantly accept. You're no stranger to hugs from your sister, but you're 5'9, so she's always only been a few more inches taller than you. But she felt...taller, than last time? Or were you imagining things?

"Thanks, bro. I'll go get my keys back tomorrow, promise. I just didn't want to be out and about right now, it's about to storm." "You sure?" you ask incredulously. "I thought the forecast said clear skies, and can't you call someone to open your door?" "Yeah well, I...left my purse at home. Yeah." "You couldn't use someone elses phone? Or mine?" "Well, they're all probably closed at this time of day anyway...you know how it is."

You don't say anything. It's pretty clear to you that she just wanted to spend the night, possibly to get over being dumped by someone she liked (even though you knew he wasn't good for her), so you let this happen. What's one night over with your sister? How bad could it be? "Wanna watch a movie?" she suddenly asks. "I'll make the popcorn."
