This choice: Prepare for battle, and summon an Ancestor Ghost for help! • Go Back...Chapter #5Lilethys Indalen, Ancestral Ghost by: Halcyon Deciding that she's better off playing it safe with a companion, Avoni's hands begin to shake as she prepares to exercise a power inherent to all Dunmer - the ability to summon an ancestral guardian for a limited period of time.
Of course, it wasn't something that just any Dark Elf could do, but Avoni was a devout of Azura and her ancestors, and had mastered the technique. There weren't many advantages to summoning an ancestor ghost - they couldn't do much besides fight and occasionally provide guidance, and the summons didn't last long. Still, they were great to use in a pinch, and didn't require a share of the loot - a factor that made them very attractive options to adventurers like herself.
A flash of light surrounds Avoni as she waves her hand, magicka flowing from her fingertips as she invokes her greater power, forming little clouds of light and a whoosh of magical sound. Moments later, the light clears, revealing a ghostly, translucent Dunmer female. She glowed a slight greenish color, and her legs seemed to be absent in favor of a ghostly tendril, allowing her to hover just above the ground. Her torso was scantily clad but nonetheless athletic looking, and her young-looking face did nothing to betray the history or age of the long-dead woman, aside from her antiquated hairstyle and chitin piercings.
"Avoni!" The ghost yelled, frowning as she turned to the wide-eyed Dunmer girl. "What are you doing?! I was enjoying a peaceful rest. Why did you summon me again?"
"Ah... s-sorry, Lilethys..." Avoni stammered, apologetically. "But I'm going into this dungeon and I need help..."
"Help? Come on..." the ghost named Lilethys whined. "You always summon me for the most ridiculous things. I will not help you rob another tomb of somebody's ancestors!"
"What?!" Avoni cried, instantly becoming distraught. "Come on... please? It's not OUR ancestors... who cares about these guys! Besides... aren't you supposed to, you know... protect me and stuff? If I go in all alone, I might get...eaten up or something..."
Avoni shuffles in place as she looks up at her ancestor's ghost, pleading with wide-eyes for her help. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
