Knotting her jaws, Hayley came to a decision. "This situation is over all of our heads." Firmly, she said. "Mom will know what to do." She then thought, "I hope..."
With you, Harriet, and Mel following, Hayley marched home and into mom's study where we all found her waiting for us. She had a stern look on her face that even made Hayley cringe slightly. "Give me the orb." Strictly, she ordered. "It is too powerful, hence illegal for any inexperienced witch to possess."
Hayley handed the orb over to mom who glared at her. "I made a wish holding the orb." Softly, Hayley said. "It was only to teach Harry, or rather, Harriet a lesson."
"Harry had no knowledge of the orbs true power until he foolishly tested it." Firmly, mom said. "Punishing him for magical arrogance will only make the situation worse." Her face softened as she turned to Harriet. "Fear not... young lady." Bemused, she said. "The wishing orb's first three wishes to a non-magical person is only temporary as a warning of its true power. However, the orbs likes to twist things during this period so you use those wishes. I hope you haven't made any wishes without realizing"
"What of Hayley's wish to make me a girl?" Worried, Harriet demanded.
Mom grinned. "That wish was made by a witch so it can be reversed." Calmly, she said. Her face then turned dark. "However... if you make another wish upon this orb, there will be no turning back as your only warning has been given!" She held up the orb and said aloud, "I wish Harry to return to normal when his first wish expires."
The orb glowed for a moment then stopped and mom placed the orb into a safe in the back of her study and waved her hand, causing it to close and lock on its own. She then turned to you, Harriet, and your sisters. "Consider yourselves lucky this did not turn out worse. You are dismissed."
"When will my one wish expire?" Desperate, Harriet asked.
