Phoebe was understandably giddy as she parked her car on the loading bay outside work one Monday afternoon. After switching her engine off she reached over to her purse on the passenger seat and pulled out her new 'toy'. It was a variant of a P.A.I.D (Personal Aspect Interchanging Device). Basically it allowed her two swap people's traits. She could swap people's bodies, individual body parts, clothing, personalities etc., and only she would be aware. Reality would shift so everyone else would think everything was normal. "Perfect place to give you another try-out." Phoebe grinned, running her fingers over the device.
She'd already used it on some of her neighbors and some passers-by in the street that morning. Dave, the guy across the street, had looked pretty ridiculous going to work dressed in a schoolgirl's uniform. And her prissy neighbor Adele didn't look as pretty with the bald head and the biker tattoos of some guy who walked past Phoebe's house.
Phoebe kept smiling, even chuckling as she exited her car and headed into Wilkos to start her shift. Liz was just heading upstairs to chat with Elizabeth, and she smiled and greeted Phoebe as she inputted the security code on the door leading upstairs. "Afternoon Phoebe." she chirped.
"Hey Liz." Phoebe responded happily.
Liz frowned as she smiled. "You seem more cheerful than usual." The supervisor said.
"Just a good day, that's all." Phoebe mumbled, without revealing too much.
After the two had reached the top of the stairs, Liz turned right and headed down the hallway towards the manager's office, while Phoebe walked straight into the tea room, where several of her co-workers were already sat awaiting the start of their shift. Phoebe glanced at her watch, they still had 20 minutes to kill. Looking around the room, she identified Nicola, Rebekah, Steven, Waggy and Liam. And then someone else entered the room after her, she turned to see who it was and saw Josh smiling at her. He was the newest employee, recently arrived from the U.S with his wife. "Hey there." he greeted Phoebe.
Phoebe had to admit, she loved Josh's accent. Hmm, I wonder if I should have an accomplice for this. Phoebe wondered with a smirk as she watched Josh grab himself a coffee.
She decided she wanted a confidante. So she walked over to Josh while he was by the sink and started talking in a loud whisper so the others wouldn't hear her. "How would you like to have some fun with everyone?" she asked initially, before showing Josh her P.A.I.D variant. and explaining to him in quick detail just what it was capable of. That took a couple of minutes, and inevitably, Josh was highly sceptical.
"Okay I can see you need proof, which is fine" Phoebe grinned, as she activated her P.A.I.D.
